Is it just me or was last night's game attendance (20-22K) rather low? They're usually a lot closer to 30, sometimes higher.

According to ESPN, we had 20,109 for Sav St.

We're not "usually closer to 30k." We only approach that number for the bigger games/opponents and Savannah State is not even in the same solar system. It is a bit dissapointing when its the first home game of the season though, no mayter the opponent.

I would venture to say that the opponent and the fact that maybe a lot of those who would have attended were concerned with family, weather, Irma, and how it might affect them.

Yep ssu and Irma were the reasons probably. Wake should make up for it.

I thought the crowd looked okay. SSU doesn't exactly move the meter for people, and I think everyone knew it was going to be a blowout.

35k for Wake will give us 27.5 average for 2 games. That ain't bad. Horrible opponent didn't help much

It's getting more difficult to get info on single game seats online.I would think they would encourage sales by making the process simpler.

I predict the next home game will have a much bigger attendance, you can take that to the bank.

More than Saturday. That has to be the most poorly attended home opener in a long time.

Attendance vs. SSU in 2011 was 24,917.

I was kind of surprised at the low number considering it was the opener and the weather was basically perfect.

I really think that Irma had people to the South of us focusing on other priorities. You never know when a hurricane like that can wobble or pivot and all of a sudden your area is flooded. Add in that it was SSU and they didn't bring any people probably due to the storm also.

Almost 5000 less people for the same opponent that was bad then and bad now. Not good.

We used to draw 25k no matter the opponent. Home opener with next home game two weeks away, perfect weather. I'm not buying a hurricane 1,000 miles away as an excuse. The mentality of our fanbase (and most of CFB) has changed due to tv/internet access.
We don't need to add general seating.

I agree. The ability to watch the game on TV, save at least $100+ on tickets, plus food, gas, baby sitters etc. have affected attendance at almost all major college games. If App is to keep attendance from dropping my personal view is that we have to schedule name recognition schools. I wonder if we scheduled Montana if we wouldn't sell out (I have no clue what guarantee would be required and yes I know they are FCS) . I just know there are schools---yes WCU is still one---that will bring fans out where a Savannah State won't. The main thing is still WIN.
