Beat Wake [Black & Gold Podcast]

Unread post by APPARJ » Tue Sep 19, 2017 10:46 pm

Another massive episode.

David Jackson joins us for the #BGPMailSatchel.

Ruffin McNeill is our special guest and probably one of the most entertaining storytellers we've had to date!

If I were Ruffin McNeil right now I would just be in Kermit-sipping-tea mode 'round the clock.

A-M-E-N!

All of our guests have been pleasant and easy to deal with and Ruffin was that x100. Awesome guy.

I haven't had time to listen to the Ruffin McNeil interview, but I would love to tell him how stupid EZU was for letting him go. They are 0-3 now with a loss to FCS James Madison and have been out scored by 83 points in their last two games. Geez!

I covered Ruffin's ECU firing when I blogged for Underdog Dynasty and I'm having a hard time finding a more short-sighted decision in the last 10 years of major college football. Jeff Compher did Ruffin, an alum, dirty and hired their version of Jason Capel IMO since no one else wanted to take that job out of respect to Ruffin.

Love Ruffin stories. He really loved his experience with App and Coach Moore.

We probably need to start a few "should we really be playing one of the worst teams in FBS on the road?" threads. One must always worry about "scheduling down" that way.

They'll probably be top 25 when we play them. Its the way it goes for us.

I LOVE this quote from Coach McNeill:

"I believe in the ethos of 'earned not given.' I believe you earn every thing you get. And even today -- with times changing -- I do not sacrifice the ethos of 'earned not given.' I don't care about millennials. I don't care about social media or anything like that. You have to earn everything you get. Nothing is going to be given to you in life."

Such wisdom from a guy whose been molding young men for such a long time. I really wish more young people would hear this kind of mantra. It's a rare and important point of view in the context of higher education and college campus cultures in 2017.
