Cliché, but for me,true. Being a little older , living through the cold lean seasons, remembering being looked down upon by these folks....I never really expected to live long enough to see Wake in Conrad...uh...Kidd Brewer .I guess I'm trying to convey something you may not grasp. Well it's been a long road...now it's time to kick their ass.

Right there with you during those cold, lean season experiences, Stonewall. I was a wet behind the ears freshman at the first game ever played in Conrad back in September, '62. The only home games my wife and I have missed since that first game were due to either family illness or death. There have been some astonishing wins and crushing losses along the way to tomorrow's game. This time, I'm totally unprepared for anything other than a win. #BeatWake #NoExcuses

Do you really get a better education or better for prepared for life at Wake or UNC? At the end of the day ( having worked with grads of both) I've decided the only difference (other than having a Med and Law School) is it's just harder to get accepted. Granted incoming freshman may be better prepared going in.... but coming out?

It isn't the prestige. It isn't the big checks daddy wrote. It isn't the number of digits in the endowment, the ivy-covered walls or the number of living trees in the quad. hee heeRekdiver wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 10:59 amDo you really get a better education or better for prepared for life at Wake or UNC? Regardless of the name and location of an accredited institution, it's "plain and simple" the amount and quality of the work done by the individual and her/his application of that work toward meeting established goals in life that counts for something more than a trust fund from daddy.

How many of us, particularly those if us over 40 who really remember the great App-Wake games, will be shedding a tear of joy when WF finally takes the field at KBS?

Went to many of those games, always felt like a bowl game.
And boy did we "Give 'em Hell" more times than not.
I can hear my buddies voices ringing in my ear...
"What if we got them to come to Boone?"
More than just another game indeed!

I grew up in WS and graduated from ole RJR so the #BEATWAKE games were a favorite. Groves/BBT is a great little stadium but tomorrow is going to be fantastic and special.
Doug Gillan has said that it will be greater than the Miami game.... Will we surpass 35,000?
See everyone tomorrow....
Go #AppState #BEATWAKE

I was at the first game as a Sr. in 1975. I screamed and yelled all the way back to Boone. I have long awaited the day when Wake would come to Boone. The day is here. Cook the Deacs!!!

I'm 32 and I may shed a tear. I went to the last game played in 2001, so like many, I'm glad to see the series back!AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 2:35 pmHow many of us, particularly those if us over 40 who really remember the great App-Wake games, will be shedding a tear of joy when WF finally takes the field at KBS?

I’ve been to every Wake game except the first (I was in school and could have gone but didn’t; can’t believe that) but when the Miami and Wake games were announced I immediately thought the Wake game was a much bigger deal. I may shed a tear myself.

I was at the Wake game in 1995 as an App senior when Coach ran for 2 TD's and gave App the W. I'll never forget any moment of that game or the 10 wins that followed that season.

I would just like to say that even though I got to App at the tail end of the series and thus don't have quite the memories many of you do, I heartily cosign this thread over any "this game is big, but not as big as winning the Sun Belt" posts.
Throw EVERYTHING at Wake tomorrow and worry about the rest of the season later.

My 1st App game ever and a 50+ yard FG was the winner!ViewCrew87 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:22 pmThis game goes back to watching Dino's clothesline sack of Elkins in '83. It's a big deal having them in Boone....finally!!
Speaking of Dino, was it 2 years later when he flew over both lines pre-snap and decked their QB late in the game? (penalty) Man waz he hyped up!

This game brings back a ton of great memories for me. Growing up in an App household and living in Winston since I was 1 year old (born in 82) I've been to every game at Wake except 75 and maybe 83.
It was always so fun to go to school on Monday after we won and enjoy a little ribbing of my ACC fan buddies. I was a student when we last played so it been a long wait. As good as hosting Miami was, this has me much more excited!

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

Yes, saw Dino later that night in Boone and we were laughing about it.
