The ball never made it to the end zone, never made to the goalposts or into the crowd, where a fan had leaned over the railing at the end of the first half and spat on Wake’s players.
That didn’t go over well with the Deacons.
“Something happened at halftime that provided a spark,” Wake coach Dave Clawson said. He didn’t elaborate.
But quarterback John Wolford did.
“There was a fan that spit on Jaboree (Williams),” Wolford said. “That got some people fired up.”
I HOPE APP CATCHES THIS PERSON AND KICKS THEIR SORRY ASS OUT OF SCHOOL!!!>>>

Pure bitch move by whoever allegedly did it. Do they have event staff that control that railing area where away teams enter the field? If not, they should.

This is kind of a stupid article. Wish the 200lb FB player had dragged the idiot on the field and stomped their ass.
This is the kind on embarrassing article I knew our kids would have to endure. We did not shut them down in the first half; they just did not play well. When they decided to play they beat us like they should have. BS....

Article sucked, but that "fan" needs to be gone-from all games & school.

Article was not well written and once again a P5 coach chalks it up to them not playing well and not us having equal talent. If a kid di spit, he should be thrown out but at the end is a wake section and the band....sounds kind of like BS. It's not like Wake was a bunch of class act Baptist. We set near a dude who was cussing and screaming the whole time and their players came to taunt the crowd at the end of the game.
Plus the writer mentions the first play of the game was a delay of game. Wrong. Their lineman jumped offsides

Fake news.
Fake like it really happened but it makes us look bad or fake as in you legitimately feel it didn't happen. Or are there some alternative facts we are missing?

One of my buddies messaged me as it happened and said after the fan did that the Wake player had him by the neck and threw punches before it got broken up......this could be not what happen but it's the message I got sent during halftime. The fan deserved that and deserves to never step in KBS again.... but as a player you can't do that as well (if that part was true) it was #6 for Wake Forest who was the player according to the guy that messaged me.

Beyond the football analysis, incidents like this along with the alleged groping incident with Miami (later found to be a flat out lie) damages Apps reputation. While we know idiots act out at every game, we do not want one idiot to reflect on our school. Why was there not police in the area or event staff where the opposing team enters/exits? I hope someone has this on video so the idiot can be identified and suspended. This kind of stupidity does not represent the university nor the morals of the High Country. Stand proud to be a Mountaineer. Go App!

Huh? They played close to a perfect game and still got outplayed by a team with half the athletic budget who made tons of mistakes.

The incident may have occurred, and I condemn perpetrator if it did. Fake like Wake needed extra motivation. Fake like it lead to the mistakes that determined the game's outcome.

Yea. I agree. That's poor coaching if you're always going to depend on an opposing fan to provide a "spark". When in actuality we were just the better team.

Teams could hire professional spitters, dress, and position them as they wish if it was that simple. Not saying Wake didn't, but they have been recently associated with scandal.

Can Mr. Hardin's presence be verified as being at KBS during yesterdays contest?

Another fan behind me began heckling the WF players (after the filth air plane bottle). We should pull for our team unapologetically; but I personally apologized to the WF fans in front of me, for others actions. WE ARE BETTER THAN THAT.

This has been twisted into a discussion of fan sportsmanship, as the author intended. It was actually a really good football game for those that recognize and appreciate such.

Did you tell the fan to stop or get an attendant? That is what needs to happen. WE dont tolerate that. You should have after the first bottle.

I really worry that between the boos, the kickoff chant from the student section, and stories like this, that this is the reputation we are earning as a school and fanbase.
