Rubino concern

1) Rubino, I know he's taking some heat for this Wake game (which isn't all his fault) and actually received death threats (unbelievably) after the Tennessee game last year. With kickers, a loss of confidence can be devastating. If they already haven't done so, I'd suggest having him see a sports psychologist to help keep his head right. He's helped win a lot of games for us and we need him to have his head clear.

Also, we could suggest that App fans refrain from harassing him on social media or elsewhere.

Not so much because it might make him miss more kicks, but just because it's what you do if you have even a base level of human decency.

Amen!

The last time I checked, football was still a team sport. We win as a team; we lose as a team.

Just stop for a moment and ask yourself if you'd blast your own child that way via Twitter or message board. If you answer "yes", then I would recommend some parenting classes for you. If you answer "no", then take your fingers off the keyboard and don't send that message or tweet.

Personally, I'm looking forward to homecoming and the next game. It's always great to be a Mountaineer!

The whole special teams unit should get some heat. But personally attacking anyone is beyond ridiculous. You can be mad but it is not going to make a difference. Let's finish 10-2.

You could say we lost game because we routinely like to run up the middle on 3rd and 16.

You could say we lost because an experienced receiver did not catch anything that came his way in the first half, or we extended a WF scoring drive with penalties, or killed our own scoring drive by spinning a great catch, or yes missing a FG. Other momentum changing mistakes. No reason to single out one player. We put up 500 yards and only put the ball in the end zone twice, one gimmick play and one big run.

Anyone who comes on MMB (the only one I read) or any other platform to call out an APP player by name for his play on the field is a gutless POS !!!

Being a kicker is like being a goalie in soccer. Make the big play, you're the hero, don't make the big play, you're a loser.

I honestly think Rubino is fine. He's a freakin' sophomore!!! That kid has been put in so many big situations in his short career.

I really wish our line could have held wake off enough to see the ball fly, because I really felt like this kick was his redemption.

So, for now, he'll have to wait for that redemption, but mark my words, this dude will hit a game winner.

I completely agree. He will his multiple game winners before leaving App. For those with short term memories, he has already had one pretty important game winner in our Bowl win over Toledo last year.

I'm getting concerned about portions of our fan base. At the end of the day, this is a game and these are kids.

Spitting, death threats, social media harassing, etc. I'd like to see Gillin openly address this on and off campus.

We all need to be vocal and condemn this kind of behavior when we see it.

He also hit a 46-yarder in the fourth quarter one week ago that felt pretty big at the time. If you thought you were nervous on that last Texas State drive at 20-13, just imagine if it had been 17-13.

Excellent point!
