This is the crap that kills a good brand.

I feel like we have a good brand of "you don't want to play there because it's loud and their fans are engaged as the 12th man." It seems like a lot of teams that come to App want to try to take us out of the game early. This is GOOD!

What we don't want is to be known for spitting and cussing at players the whole game.

Anyway, let's encourage our students to be loud and not use cuss words. It's just a matter of time before my 5 year old asks me what they are saying and doesn't buy my "I don't understand that they are saying..."

There's no place for that kind of chant. It's been happening all year.

I'm all for a loud and raucous student section, but let's try to keep it classy.

The question is, how do you rein it in at this point? The only think I can think of is to start cutting back or threatening to cut back free student tickets. Something has to be done, it's getting louder and can be heard clearly as far as the upper East stands.

Agree 100%...it's an embarrassment. Visiting fans and players should be shown respect, just as we'd want our people to be treated when visiting their stadium.

Agree - douchey and just plain lazy. If you're going to go PG-13 or even R rated every once in a while, at least make it clever.

Absolute worst "tradition" that has ever taken hold at App. Someone from the administration is going to have to intervene. It is an embarrassment to our football program and to our university.

Dozens if not hundreds of students doing it. It's gone past the point of anyone telling them to "cut it out".

Im not sure why it started. It started a couple of years ago. I haven't liked it since it started. I think it is classless.

I agree, like the guy in 215 who screamed " Ahh! Come on Taylor, watch what you are doing!" after Lamb threw his first interception of the year Saturday.
Boy, I was sitting in a section with true red necks. Some guy yelled at Satterfield all game long. He finally got hoarse or sober and shut up.

Not unprecedented:

It's not the best look, but it isn't the end of the world. Certainly less of a big deal than a student spitting on an opposing player. That person needs to be banned from KBS.

Booing our own players is my pet peeve. Every time I hear that shit I intervene. Granted, I haven't heard any examples of that on the East side since we got our 111 season tickets two years ago.

They're not free. They pay a huge student athletic fee. However, something has to be done. They make us look like Georgia Southern.

I agree swearing isn't nearly as bad as spitting on a player. However, the difference is you're talking about one fan being an a-hole in one moment vs. hundreds or thousands of fans doing a choreographed chant several times a game.

Agree that was weak to say the least. People around me that were casual Homecoming fans were asking why the boos when starting lineup introduced themselves. I did not take time to explain just said drunk idiots...

I'd also like to mention (and I insist on mentioning this every time we talk about this chant) that THERE IS A VERY IMPORTANT COMMA IN THAT SENTENCE. If the students truly intent to be that specific, I agree that it must be stopped. I always assumed that he sucks and that he's also an ass hole. I never thought that he sucked asshole.

I think the only way to stop it would be if the players were to speak to the core of the student section at the 50 yard line before a game and let them know that this is something that does not represent us well or help our home field advantage and needs to die.
