It's embarrassing enough the AD and Athletic Dept had to write this letter to our fans and students. You'd think this was directed at the likes of a UNCC that just started up and has no tradition, chants, fan/gameday interaction. Bring back Bugler's dream and drown the little bastards out, sheesh.

Thank you! Exactly the point I have been making. Saying a chant to essentially no one is no where near physically attacking or harming anyone. It isn’t a slippery slope that leads to physical assault like everyone is making out.

It makes you sound like a bunch of non clever dumbasses. Is that clear enough?

For someone who is apparently scared of what other people think because a crowd of people say the word “asshole” you sure don’t seem to be offended or worried about calling people dumbasses. What is the difference? In this instance, I would argue it is more offensive and inflammatory since it is actually directed at someone. Hypocrisy abounds.
And for the record, as I have stated many times, I do not participate in the chant and think it is lame, but I choose not to get my manties in a wad and think our fan base is the worst because of something like this.

This is an app state message board, we all know recruits and players and opposing fans come here, so how can you downplay your attacks as not representative of the entire App Nation.

Thanks, but I don’t need your “pass” or your approval. I am well past my teenage years and the only thing I rebel against is people who think in absolutes, as in a few students say something I don’t agree with, therefore all app state fans look bad.
I’ve said multiple times that I don’t participate or enjoy the chant, I’m just not delusional enough to believe the actions of a small minority of students ( saying something) is painting the whole fan base in a bad light.
And with that, you and your like minded chickens can run around and panic, and look for reasons to be offended, and engage in petty personal attacks directed at me and anyone else who dares to have a different opinion than you, I am done with the subject matter of this thread

For someone who is so adamant about this you sure display a high level of hypocrisy when you are challenged on it. The more you try to argue that people should get over it, the worse you are coming across. And if you really are well past your teen years as you say then I stand my my earlier post you look immature and sophomoric by blinding defending a chant that is essentially nothing but profanity and in doing so reveal a lot about what type of person you are.

I like this. I think this initiative led by Doug may develop into a much better chant and tradition moving forward. Hopefully they’ve come up with some good ideas and that it catches on.
My friend and his 2 year old were going to come up for their first App game this weekend this chant was on my mind.

Thanks to some worn out sorority chick behind us at the Miami game last year, my 2 year old came away with a whole new vocabulary that we had to take care of on the way back to the Triad.

Im not sure why it started. It started a couple of years ago. I haven't liked it since it started. I think it is classless.

It's been around since the first game of the 2010 season, at a minimum, and I've heard it on a few broadcasts since I've left. I can only speculate as to how it came about.

As for the chant, there could be something better. A lot of good ideas listed here, and I can't see what they're displaying on the board at home, so hopefully something sticks!

Not sure how you missed it.....was on the board on every kickoff with the exception of the first one to start the game... but the students must have missed it too.... the chant was SUPPOSED to be "We Are APP STATE"
