Homecoming 2017

Unread post by 9Steelman » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:23 am

Thought it was one of the best. Friday included Alumni Awards, Parade, and Apptober Fest on Howard St, I have never seen that much energy downtown on Friday Night. Saturday included a large Alumni Breakfast Social well attended and well done, tailgating, recognizing Class of 1967 well done also, halftime activities well done, unbelievable football game, and then the cheerleaders at gate leaving the game. Super weekend!! Hats off to all the planners. Now if we could just add one 50's, 60's, or 70's song to play during the game sometime just to give the older alumni something to relate to. Two great sing along songs that might be used just one time, "My Girl" Temptations or "Sweet Caroline" Neil Diamond. I know students are very important, but older Alumni are also. I am honored to be in class of BS 1967 and MA 68. It is great to be a Mountaineer!!!!!!!!!

Actually, "My Girl" did play on Saturday but obviously not in Kidd Brewer. It played at my daughter's wedding for part of our dance. :D

Now, for the Homecoming years ahead, my daughter and her husband are two sure seats, one reason being they met at App.

My dad was on the field before the game too - class of 67! Go App!

He's got an "ASU" degree, not App Teachers College. I thought 66 was the last year for being a teachers college. Was that announced incorrectly?

I can't imagine any App alum ever wanting to get married during football season, shaking my head haha

lol, I didn't want to say it. My sister got married and all her pictures looked like :( because we just lost to Wofford in 07. Pretty much everyone there was an App grad. At least it was an away game.

I think July 1, 1967 was official change date. I graduated with BS in May, 1967 ASTC, then graduated with MA in Aug, 2018 ASU. So I have two degrees one with ASTC and the other with ASU.

FYI - My daughter asked me over a year ago when I would know the football schedule because she wanted to be married in October. I appreciated her considerations for me not missing a game. I hope she appreciated my response, "Screw the football schedule. Pick a date and I'll be there." haha

"Top of The Rock"..........I'm probably the most liberal person on this board and I think this is a bunch of crap.\
And if you continue it stop putting a crown on the winner. There is no interest in the androgynous contest and certainly no one in the crowd paid attention.
