You could stay in hickory and drive up the mountain.

There’s something special going on next weekend besides family weekend. If reunion I think. Never had this much trouble finding lodging... 😣

Best thing to do is either stay in Wilkesboro (421 route) or Hickory (321 route). Likely to find more availability at a decent or reasonable price. Also, it's slightly out of the way but probably closer in terms of distance to Boone than the other two...West Jefferson offers some lodging options also reasonably priced. If you decide to stay in West Jefferson swing by Shatley Springs for breakfast. Be prepared to wait though unless you throw my grandfather's name out as a reference :D

This, plus check the hotel in Banner Elk that has historically hosted away teams. Where are you from/how far will you be from home?

Next weekend is the wooly worm festival, the Valle country fair, leaf season and an App State home game. Traffic will e a nightmare especially on 105 around valley crucis and foscoe.

All true, plus the warmer than usual autumn means that the Floridians are still here. Best advice is to get out early and allow at least an additional hour for about anything you want to do. I can only imagine the 9:00 a.m. lines at Melanie's, Sunrise, Troy's, or even Cracker Barrel.
Watch out for the leaf watchers. I saw two bad wrecks yesterday and nothing much was really going on.

Yeah. My parents have a cabin in WJ but I’d rather be closer than that. Might have to bunk in with my nephew, a student there. I’m sure he’d love that! Haha!

Thanks. Coming from Savannah. We come up for at least half the games every year, but have always either camped at Honeybear CG, used Hilton points, or at least got a room at Greene’s (which is old but clean!). Even all those are booked! 😣

Weather looks pretty good for camping.
Even all the campgrounds are full. Called them all... sigh... might have to call Walmart and see if we can put our camper in the parking lot 🤣

The best bet is to get a hotel in Hickory or North Wilkesboro which are very short drives to Boone.

But with peak fall foilage and the Wooly Worm festival and the Valle Crucis fair and a big family day game vs Coastal bringing lot of Coastal fans...... do not plan on anything but going to the game and LEAVE EARLY EARLY to allow for eating say Dan'l Boone Inn breakfast for example. If you plan on taking in multiple events on this weekend you will not make the game ..... traffic will be herendous on hwy 105 and the parkway. DO NOT GO TO VALLEY CRUCIS OR TWEETSIE OR THE PARKWAY and you should be fine....just go to the game and enjoy.

Did you try Price Lake Campground on the parkway in BR?

That sounds like the winner to me. There are always RVs parked overnight at Walmart!

Might want to check VRBO. I see a few thi mgs in there, some are fairly e,pensive, but not everything is so costly.
