The way the 2 far right blockers are just merely leaning and stretching out an arm to touch the next player, as if their arms are all that's needed. The way they're so deliberate about that method, it's got to be what the coaches have told them to do. It doesn't even seem like they're aware of the need to block those guys, they're just taking up space. This particular blocked kick is not Rubino's fault at all IMO, it's the blocking scheme that's being utilized that's the problem. I'm no expert though.

Is this the Red Rover blocking technique?

The more I look at that blocking scheme...i wonder where Satt was when they were practicing it....And who send Critcher in there for his first kick in the endzone.................Special Teams Satt....pay attention

Yes, I believe they may be a little too far apart. I also believe, and perhaps a more important teaching point for our coaches, they were not expecting a contested kick. Our special teams must always prepare/expect the unexpected.

Did Rubino pull a Paul Crewe or something?

Sorry man. I'm not a coach critic at all. As a matter of fact, I've been ridiculed on here for being one of the Kool-Aid drinkers. But Rek is not off base with his comment. At least about that blocking scheme. That was absurd and I hope Satterfield didn't have anything to do with coming up with that. I also hope we never see that ish again. I mean, now I want to go back and look at all our blocked kicks again to see if this is what the line was doing on those, too. If so and that's what cost us the Wake Forrest game, somebody has got some 'splanin' to do.

The first block was a blocking problem. The one at the end of the game was Rubino trying to kick it through a tree.

Edit: this is in reference to the Wake game.

Not Rubino's fault. Actually watching and rewatching and knowing that we won, I started laughing at the right side of the "protection". Almost like a choreographed flash mob dance.

Nope, just the blocked PAT. Rubino came back to Make the next PAT and the game winning FG. Credit to him for not letting the block get in his head and finishing strong.
Not a coach and know little about the intricacies of football schemes, but that blocking seems really ridiculous.

My bad. I had just read someone's post about going back and looking at past games for the cause of the blocks. My comment was for the blocks against Wake Forest. I played the thought out in my head, I just didn't type it out, nor read before submitting. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, I am not sitting down because a fan behind me wants me to when we are on defense...it is supposed to be loud and rowdy. Nothing foolish about my ID, I hardly ever come on here because of the level of stupidity that posts have gotten to. Trust me I have over 15 years of App State knowledge, and know way more information than is ever posted that is actually factual and not all the garbage spewed by fans or sources claiming to have inside sources. So help me understand the mentality behind this. Just because App is on defense you have a right to be an inconsiderate jerk to your fellow fans? You do realize you can be loud and rowdy while sitting down just the same as standing up, don't you. My seats are in 111 which I've noticed is one of the feww sections that stand up quite a bit. Its because it starts in the lower sections and if you actually want to see any of the game you have paid good money for and as in my case driving 11 hours round trip to get to, you have to stand up as well. I'm ok with that because I can see when I have to stand. My wife and other shorter people especially kids can't see even when they do stand. And there are some older fans that just can't stand for that amount of time. Do you ever think about any of them?

The ones to his immediate sides are:

Cole Garrison (6' 4" 294)-left
Brock Macaulay (6' 6" 294)-right

And Vic Johnson is beside Garrison (6' 5" 290).
