Scott Satterfield on ESPN Upstate 10/18 5:35pm
Just had a great 10 minute chat with Coach. We'll air it at 5:35 on ESPN Upstate in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC. If you're local we're 97.7 in Greenville 97.1 in Spartanburg. Online at espnupstate.com or on the ESPN Upstate app. It'll also be available for podcasting around 7:30 at espnupstate.com.
We asked him some fun personal questions about his days working as a snow maker at Appalachian Ski Mountain. We talked about Shaedon Meadors and what might be in his future as far as sticking around next year after graduating, getting four quarters of consistency out of his team, what's keeping him in Boone when his name is definitely being brought up for bigger gigs, and we asked what the scariest thing about his team is right now.
Thanks everyone if you're able to listen.

Kudos to you guys for asking about Shae. Unfortunately, IMO from his answer it seems like he will probably look for a new home next year. If he were to stay I think satt would have put it to bed there. Just my opinion. If he does leave, wish him the best.

I didn't get that from the interview. IMO whether he goes or stays depends on the rest of our season and the opportunities he has at the end of the season. He has no reason to jump at the first shiny opportunity if it isn't a good fit. He's still young, loves Boone, loves the App State and is in a pretty good place with his family. He's a competitor so he probably will leave for another challenge at higher level at some point but I think he will be smart about it. I was a bit worried about NC State knocking on his door but now that Doeren has things clicking down there that's no longer a probability for Sat.boonetown1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2017 7:15 amKudos to you guys for asking about Shae. The thing I did hear from his tone is, Meadors is gone after this season.

Sorry, my mistake, totally missed your reference to Shae. That's what I get for taking a quick look at the board between appointments.boonetown1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2017 9:22 amI was referring to Meadors aka Shae.... not Satterfieldmikeyosef wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2017 9:19 amI didn't get that from the interview. I get the impression he's healthy enough to practice, but even if he's not, he would at least be present at practices and games.

I wasn't aware of the announcement that Upshaw is done for the season at the time of the interview. I absolutely would've asked him about that. ICYMI, he's undergoing tricep surgery after the injury he sustained @ Idaho and will be out for the rest of the season.

Re: Scott Satterfield on ESPN Upstate 10/18 5:35pm
Thanks APPdiesel! It can only help to have this exposure in the Upstate. BTW, that Biershenk clan is truly legendary in the Upstate golf scene. When I was a teenager there was a sort of let's say "private" professional golf tour in that area. They occasionally played their events at a course I worked at throughout my high school years. It was always a big deal when the now elder and or senior Biershenk clansman played. Complete with an entourage of hot women and others you might "mistake" for local high rollers.
