Re: Official Chokin Chicken prediction thread
I went with the spread this time because CCU seems to be a poor football team as they transition.
NMSU is a good football team period. I was impressed with their team speed and athleticism. Tx.State has an App State head coach and three App State guys on their staff. They were primed and ready for a fight with us. I figured Tx.State would be a dog fight. CCU gives up 40 pts a game. Their offense is young and they still have mostly FCS level players. If we can play even 75% of what we are capable we can and should blow out the next two opponents.

I sure would like a bit of a faster start from the App State offense this week, but even another slow roll is likely still to be a roll . . .

Re: Official Chokin Chicken prediction thread
I think it is funny how we always build up teams we beat to justify the close games. Texas State is 1-6 with the lone win being a 9 point victory of Houston Baptist in the first game of the season. They are not a good team and we struggled against them. New Mexico State is a whopping 3-4 on the season. Also not what I would call a good team, and we struggled against them. Idaho is 2-4 on the season, again not a good team and again we struggled. We just haven't played well against Sun Belt competition this year and until we do, I have a hard time calling for blowouts. We should win in a big way, 30+ points or more, but I have a feeling its another closer than it should be game. No prediction, I just hope we finally play the way we are capable of playing for 4 quarters of football.

Re: Official Chokin Chicken prediction thread
There is some truth in what you say, but Texas State DID play a better game against us than they've played in any game since. It was the beginning of the season and they still believed. Their transfer QB was in a zone that he hasn't been in since. That long TD pass was a total fluke and I said at the time that I didn't think he could repeat that if he had to. All that being said, App was COMPLETELY FLAT at the beginning of that game. Well, I say completely but maybe that's not true because at Idaho we were even WORSE and it was on both sides of the ball.t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2017 2:50 pmI think it is funny how we always build up teams we beat to justify the close games. There is absolutely truth in the statements that teams give their best efforts against us because we're the defending champs. Our biggest problem this year, however, has been our own execution and lack of focus....especially early in the game.
I'm an eternal optimist, so I believe this is the week we see four quarters.
