Buffering

Unread post by NewApp » Sat Oct 21, 2017 2:53 pm

All season when I try to watch the game on ESPN3, NONE of the commercials buffer but the entire game action does. This did not happen in the past few years. So what gives?
On my iPhone this does not happen.

Man, you say this every week. Call your service provider and complain. I’m literally in BFE Fancy Gap, VA right now with literally less than 5mbps upload/download speeds and can stream the games just fine without buffering.

Called two different DISH customer service reps (after hearing some crap about a longer than normal volume of calls), they didn't even know what I was talking about. Didn't even know what buffering was.

What gets me is I've been using DISH multiple seasons and Windstream prior to that and never a problem until this year. As I said earlier the commercials are perfect and the iPhone is perfect.
Sorry it bothered you to read this. The last few weeks I wasn't the only one complaining and I listened to others complain those years I wasn't having problems with the cast. Suck it up.

Oh, and sorry you have to live in Fancy Gap, but heck everybody has to live somewhere.

We have had that problem trying to watch away games. We have Spectrum, so I don't think it's just the internet provider. If it was soley an internet problem, wouldn't the commercials buffer too?

I chatted with someone at ESPN last week when we could barely watch the game because it was freezing so bad and they said they had no problems on their end. However, two other people I know, with different ISPs than us had problems.

Have you tried running a speed test to see if you are getting what you are supposed to be getting? That is the first thing I would do.

Have you tried disabling the other devices using the band in your house? I have no idea if it makes a difference but that is what my kids tell me. They’re teenagers so they would have to know.

We did that and everything seemed fine. We haven't turned the other devices off, but maybe we will try that next week. Hasn't ever seemed to be a problem before when we've streamed other things, but maybe it has become a problem.

Carrier and speed is important but so is the device you are streaming with... what are you using?

A toshiba laptop. We've switched between that and 2 other computers and it still buffers on all 3.

How old are they? Do you have any Apple devices? The Watch ESPN app streams well with the iPhone and iPad.

I stream using a Firestick. Two of the last three weeks, I haven't been able to stream form my TV. All games on the Watch ESPN app wouldn't load. I was able to watch on my IPad and the picture quality was amazing.

Two of our laptops are less than 2 years old. No Apple devices. Now that You mention it, I don't know if I've tried it on the app on my phone (Galaxy S7). Maybe I'll try that next week and see what happens.

You can try it now. I think you can always just stream ESPN on it
