Obviously the administration intends to work a normal day and they’re willing to selfishly eliminate all young alumni tailgating for the convenience.
Direct hate mail to Everts.

Just means more than enough time to get some pre-tailgating in at the BGP Legends Lunch!

I wish I could make the BGP Legends Lunch. I'll be there in time for a little tailgating and a bunch of cheering from the stands.

You should be happy all these public employees are working a full day on the tax-payers dime. I wish none of the parking spaces opened until 5 pm, when most offices and classes are finished and for the evening classes and labs some accommodation was made even if it meant some Yosef Club spaces may be lost for this one game, but I bet some will not be used anyway since we expect attendance to be down for a Thursday night game, and that would be the case regardless of the parking situation.Gonzo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:18 amSource: student and faculty-wide internal email.

That would still give 2 hours of tail-gateing if you pulled in a bit after 5 and packed up in time to get to the kickoff.
Selfish is asking a donation of a few hundred dollars/maybe $1000 to displace a student from classes that is paying $15,000 to be a student at App. A young alum should understand this as much as anyone.
What you are advocating is closer to what I expect UNC-CHeat to propose where they put athletics above all.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Lot Opening Times for GS
It’s one day a year. Don’t be a drama queen. We’ve been through the economics of football as it fits into The University’s mission 1,000 times on this message board and I won’t belabor that point. It’s also a major part of the App State experience that kids are paying that $$$ to enjoy. Cancelling classes (yes, classes should be cancelled) for one day is not that disruptive to students’ educations. Give me a break.
And I WISH we were still young alumni. I miss half-price.

Re: Lot Opening Times for GS
only losing a half hour from my normal tailgate duration so I'm fine with this...
now if it was on a Saturday with the same start time that would suck.
lots are going to be empty anyway of tailgating compared to a weekend game

I'd suggest anyone who does not plan to use their parking pass to post on App State classifieds and give their pass up for free to a student who may need to park on campus for class.

Re: Lot Opening Times for GS
Lets not forget all the regular staff members that will have to take vacation time or park and ride from the OHS that work till 5pm all across campus or all the second shift workers. Goodness knows everyone on campus should be honored to subjugate themselves football gods and take unpaid leave so the lots can be empty all day, so that people can start showing up at 4-5pm and get sloshed so they can go to the stadium and leave at half time. I have been around for every weeknight game in the last 10 years and this is how it always works. I have left campus at 4pm and the lots were as empty as at 7am when they saved everything for the few, the proud, the yosef club.Gonzo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:18 amSource: student and faculty-wide internal email.

This is still a school and until the Athletic department can operate without the largest part of its budget coming from student fees, get over it.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: Lot Opening Times for GS
As a young-alumni and season ticket holder a year removed from my time at App, I resent this comment. I literally cannot afford to pay another cent. It was a better tailgate spot or student loan payments.DaphneUrquhart wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:46 am... or step up your donation to Yosef so you're not on University Dr. by the admin building.AppDawg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:23 amJust means more than enough time to get some pre-tailgating in at the BGP Legends Lunch!

Re: Lot Opening Times for GS
To me I see no difference between closing campus at 3 PM vs a teacher deciding to a cancel class randomly during a semester. Just my personal opinion.

Sorry ... should have used the sarcasm font. I've lived off of popcorn and understand what that's like. I know some folks are doing everything they can to help, and I appreciate that you're part of Yosef.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 12:42 pmAs a young-alumni and season ticket holder a year removed from my time at App, I resent this comment. Everts really is disconnected. However, we were all spoiled with Chancellor Peacock. I wish he never stepped down. He was friendly, sincere, genuine, pro-academics, arts, and athletics and a man of the people.

This guy clearly does not tailgate. 3:30 means that towing starts at that point...meaning we’re likely to be told the lots don’t open until 4 or later...
This is an opportunity to showcase the university to a national audience. It’s not an inconvenience. She doesn’t get it at all! Athletics helps academics...and academics helps athletics. They aren’t opposing forces! I’ve just had it with her bird brain decisions! And disingenuous comments. I can’t wait for her to be gone. #FIREeverts
