Cure will likely have an excess CUSA team.
15, CUSA will be the most likely outcome.
CUSA has 6 bowl tie-ins with the Independence Bowl being a secondary conditional agreement for CUSA and AAC if the ACC or SEC fail to fill the slot. CUSA currently has 5 bowl eligible teams with another 3 teams sitting at 5 wins and 2 teams sitting at 4 games with 3 left to play.
CUSA bowl eligible:
FAU
FIU
Marsha
NT
UAB
5 Wins:
WKU
USM
UTSA
4 Wins:
LaTech
MTSU

Heard there were 2 Cure Bowl reps at the game last night.
But don't they have the 4th pick?
stAte and Troy likely chosen ahead of us. ULL could still get eligible, or Montgomery could take GSU.

Temple defeated Cincy keeping the Owls' bowl hopes alive while the Bearcats fall to 3-7 as their fans get ready for B-ball season.

My guess is we will lobby to avoid Montgomery this year. Don't think our players want to go there 3 years in a row. They are great hosts but there is only so much they can do different in terms of providing things for the team to do or see.

I would be stunned if Montgomery chose for a third straight season. Most bowls usually avoid that situation at the G5 level.

At our level of bowls, I'd bet there are lots of "inner-bowl" conversations between bowl execs. Thats too many times using the word "bowl" in one sentence LOL!

I beleive that Gillin will lobby for anything but the Camelia bowl.

What if the Camellia Bowl has the highest rated opponent? ---

It likely would not. The MAC is not having it's strongest season. Plus Montgomery will be hard to sell to our fans and players.

I am looking at it from the standpoint that Gillin may be taking for the players and fans. Do you want to go to the same destination three years in a row? Will fans travel there three years in a row. The school’s bottom line is predicated on your ticket sales.

I've been watching some MAC games recently and quite frankly of the ones who would be likely opponents, I don't think we are good enough to get a 3rd straight win against a MAC team this year.

If we’re slated for one of the four SBC bowls I’d prefer rewarding the players first by going somewhere new. The difference in public perception between #2 in the MAC, #2 in CUSA or #7 in AAC is marginal.

Regardless of pecking order, I think it's safe to say that Orlando would be the preferred destination this year for the majority of APP Nation.

I think for this season you are right - if Toledo had finished 12-1 then maybe - this season I would be looking for the game I could win in a place different from Montgomery --

Of course we are good enough to beat a MAC team. On any given day we can beat any MAC team. Next game will tell us alot about where we are at this point in the season. Not selling us short.

I'd say it's virtually certain we'll try to get a different bowl destination this year. I kind of suspect we did so last year. This time around, though, I have to think our presale figures for Montgomery will be significantly down. And I think the other eligible SBC teams will sort out such that Montgomery will have an option they like as much or more than us anyway.

Speaking of Disney World, in Dec of 2007 we were down there during the national championship game weekend. We had booked the trip so far in advance I wasn't even thinking about football yet, so poor planning on my part. At any rate, the day after the game we were at one of those character meals and I was proudly wearing my App St. gear and Minnie Mouse herself came straight over to me first and pointed to my App T-shirt and counted up to 3, 1 finger at a time, and then jumped up and down in celebration...so proof right there that Minnie is an App fan.
Also, we were standing in line for the Test Track ride and there was a guy in a Michigan T-shirt and we kind of noticed each other at the same time and locked eyes and I just kind of smiled and he says "go ahead, your team earned it," I wasn't too rough on him but he mainly just admitted that we had a great quarterback.
Lastly, we were on the mono-rail at the Magic Kingdom and a whole family, like 3 generations, of Delaware Blue Hens were in the same car. They saw my App T-shirt and referenced our NC game with them and the college-aged grandson goes, well you guys do have a great quarterback. Then the grandmother remarked in a snarky way, "I didn't like the way your fans came down on the field before the game was even over in the 4th quarter." I was like, "I don't know what you mean, that game was over in the 2nd quarter!"
Not surprised that the person in the Minnie costume was familiar with App. I know of several area kids that went to work at Disney after graduation.
