I think it was the right choice for him to make. Good luck to him going forward.
I'll always look back on that one handed catch against ULM in 2014 with fond memories.

I wish he could have had a healthier experience in Boone. Would be very interested in the review of his time.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
So, he is announcing his transfer before actually identifying the school that he is transferring to? I had held out hopes he might decide to stay, but apparently not. I appreciate his contributions over the past three years and wish him the best wherever he lands.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
He finishes his degree in May.He sees the handwriting on the wall with Virgil, Hennigan, the transfer from K State, Malik Williams, Adams, etc. He will have a chance at a graduate degree and play football one more year. I'll miss him, but he has a chance to advance his life. I hope Shae does well and I ll follow his career with interest and support.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
He just does not want to have to compete for a starting job in his final year of eligibility, and that's understandable. Good luck to him.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
Good luck to him. I guess in a way you can look at it as how far we've come in recruiting WR if he feels he wouldn't see the playing field as much as he'd like. If I remember correctly when we landed him out of HS he was at the time considered the highest rated recruit to set foot on campus for football.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
That's pretty standard for most transfers, especially grad transfers. This "announcement" isn't really news - he's already done interviews with a site from one school where he's taken an official visit.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 9:59 amSo, he is announcing his transfer before actually identifying the school that he is transferring to? Also, I think folks are misguided if they think he's leaving because he feared for his starting spot. Wants to play in a power conference, and maybe wasn't the most enthusiastic about the grittier parts of being a WR in our system.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
I don’t think that is due to having to compete for a starting job his senior year. He is going to have to do that wherever he goes. He essentially starting over as a one year contributor. He would be a starter here. It is probably due to our offensive philosophy of run first and spread the ball around to our receiving corp. I wish him well, but if this decision is based on anything not associated with acedemics then he is getting some bad advice I fear.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
Yes, I knew he had taken an official visit at Illinois and had requested (and been granted) permission to look. I just hoped he might check the other pastures and decide that the grass in Boone was pretty green after all. I agree with your second paragraph also. I don't think he is leaving because of any fear over competition. He has to know there will be competition wherever he goes, especially if he's looking at a P5 program with only one year to contribute. Whatever his reasoning, I hope he does well.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 10:37 amThat's pretty standard for most transfers, especially grad transfers. Re: Meadors announces transfer
An outstanding corps of receivers coming in behind him, in a running system that will be breaking in a new QB...
I completely understand his decision and wish him the best of luck. Go get yours Shaedon. Hope to see you making one handed catches in the NFL in 2019.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
I think you are 100% correct with this assessment - "not wanting to have to compete for a starting position his last year" just oozes with cynicism as I doubt there is one quality program out there who will offer him a scholarship and tell him the position is his - he won't have to compete ---APPdiesel wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2017 1:32 pmAn outstanding corps of receivers coming in behind him, in a running system that will be breaking in a new QB...

Re: Meadors announces transfer
I have no doubt he'd serve a role in the offense next year but he has to think of his future. So if he's going to be a role player, at least do it at a bigger school with a better shot of being seen by a scout.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
I wish him nothing but the best going forward. I don't think he had any issue with competing for a position next year but felt with App breaking in a new QB that he was better off transferring to a Power 5 where he can possibly get more recognition should he have a great season. Nothing wrong with doing what's best for you sometimes. I appreciate his great contributions when he did play for App.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
I appreciate what he accomplished as a Mountaineer. His departure certainly does not appear to be one that will leave a gaping hole for his team to fill. I trust he carefully weighed his options and I hope he is able to look back on this and be happy with his decision.
Good luck Shaedon, you will always be a Mountaineer in my eyes, and thanks for all you did!

Re: Meadors announces transfer
Illinois has a ridiculous number of young players, more than anyone else in the nation. They need the upperclassmen.

Good luck, wish he had been supportive of the team this year however.

Re: Meadors announces transfer
Meh. Illinois is a P5 bottom feeder. This whole situation was not handled well and I’m not sure if it’s worth our time discussing. Let’s focus on the kids who want to be here and are playing for a conference championship.
