National Coverage or lack thereof
Many of us seem disappointed that Jerry's retirement didn't get more significant coverage and how it is related to not being FBS. I once asked Dr Peacock early on why ASU didn't get more media coverage and he said that it works both ways. The more positive coverage one gets also opens the door for the reporting equally of the negative things which transpire.
An argument could be made that all the negative things that happened off the field would have received national notoriety had we been FBS if that is true.
But most importantly, it would have been a tragedy if the national media had run with the idea that a coach with the successes of Moore had been forced out. That could have caused a closer look at the things that happened off the field in the past year as well as the questioning of what they may have considered a firing instead of a personal decision to retire.

Cobb and Peacock are too classy for that. They could have come out with all the things that have happened in the past 3-4 years under JM's tenure that gave them reason to think it was time for new leadership, but that would have dragged JM through the mud. Charlie Cobb and Dr Peacock obviously have no ill will toward Jerr Moore, even after they, mostly Charlie Cobb, have been the target of mudslingers the past 3 days. And why has CC been the target? Because nobody dares question Dr Ken Peacock's love for App, or his determination to do whats right for us. That would make the questioner look like a big dumb fool. Well, Charlie Cobb's and Dr Peacocks views on the situation are exactly the same. Guess some people cant make the connection.

I wouldn't think that in a million years would the AD and Chanceloor come out with those things. I was simply alluding to the fact that some of the negative things had hit regional outlets last Fall and winter and the wording of CC's initial report implied that it was a decision primarily by the Chancellor and AD.
I don't think ANYONE missed the agreement of Peacock and Cobb. Don't see why anyone would think otherwise. The initial release clarified that. I guess the reason the focus has been on the AD is that would be the initial source for the recommendation to Dr Peacock unless the Chancellor was the one who thought the off field events of last year demanded that JM had to be replaced before CC initiated it. Just speculation but then again this board is known for that.
BTW, Glass Onion, I don't question that it was time. I would have liked to have seen what 2013 would have presented given the quality palyers we have returning and hopefully a healthy Jamal. I contend that if Jamal had been healthy ..running-wise...that we would have made a deeper play-off run.

Thanks. In reality, I'm not into the "classy"/"not classy" thing, I could not care less. Generally speaking, for the most part I'm a live let live kind of guy, not to say sometimes things do get on my nerves (like jerks that don't know how to drive and things like that).

We're taking hits across the country because Stewart Mandel tweeted this? Come on man. Stewart's position as a journalist just plummeted in my mind if he's irresponsible enough to report it this way with so little information. Yeah, the way he says it makes it seem very strange but we all know there's more to it than that. How misleading is this anyways? He makes it sound like we won the 09,10, 11 NC's and we canned him after his first playoff loss. I dount he even know JM is 73 years of age. And lastly who is Stewart Mandel? I wonder if any of his 12 followers have ever even heard of Jerry Moore.

Just read twitter or any social networking site. This is getting lite up like a christmas tree. Type Jerry Moore and just read the comments. And Stewart Mandel is one on the most respected reporters for Sports Illustrated. Try to read something other than the Watauga Democrap for your news. Outside of the group of people that wanted Jerry gone anyway, this is starting to be a black eye on the university.
