I think the long break will help the team heal and re-group. We're basically 3 plays from being 11-1.

The playoff thing has really created a trickle down negative effect on lots of programs. It’s either championship or bust for 10-15 schools. Conference championships should and do still mean something.

I'm making it a point to enjoy the play of TL and the other Seniors for these last few games.

Every team is one or two more plays from being a game or two better, that's football.
Sun Belt is very balanced this year, App could win next two as easily as they could drop the next two. Also, I could see A State drop one more before Troy. There are 4 teams with a shot at conference title, but several others who are still trying to get themselves bowl eligible, all these games will be tough down the stretch. As a fan, it will be a lot of fun to watch so just appreciate the fact that App is still in the mix and have meaningful games left.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
There is no denying that we have had some disappointing performances, but I don't understand why some folks insist on letting those performances ruin the rest of the season. This is college athletics, so if you're looking for guarantees you're looking in the wrong place. Why would anyone spend so much effort mourning the past that they fail to acknowledge the chance we have in front of us now? We are back in the hunt! We have 16 days to get some guys healthy and hopefully get some things worked out. We have two very winnable games ahead and then a bowl game. SBC championship is still attainable.
Yes, GS is winless but it is a rivalry game and they have made changes also. I have to give credit to the GS players. They played hard through the entire game Thursday and didn't look like a team that had given up. Am I going to get all cocky? Nope, but I'll take the win and all the indications of improvement and enjoy them. I don't think we're 100% "back" but I do think we're getting there.

Frustrating isn’t it? Another reason to be thankful for our current situation. As much as those on here despise the light blue team to the east, they are in a similar situation with injuries as we are. And while we have managed to keep the ship upright with our Freshmen, they have pretty much sunk. And they have higher ranked recruits to fill the voids.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
On the surface, no he is not wrong. We did beat the worst team in the conference. But we did it with 5 Freshmen starting on offense an two others that contributed. All things being equal to what we thought would be our starting offense at the beginning of the year, I would say that aside from, Nuezil and Virgil, and maybe Hennigan, none of them would have seen the field. So while we have beaten the worst teams in the league, we have done with our 2nd and 3rd string guys playing against other teams starters. With that much inexperience on the field at one time, I do think the results, no matter the competition, are pretty damn amazing./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:20 pmIs he wrong though? You can’t have a NY6 bowl bid without a conference championship. Chicken/Egg debate.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
I get it but we were never going to get the NY6 without a 12-0 season. The Sumbelt reputation along with some good teams from metro areas with larger TV markets would be picked ahead of us. Hell, WMU was 12-0 and the committee still tried to force them out. Thankfully, Navy and Temple didn’t oblige.

Teccoa Falls is DII in the NCCAA from what I can tell. My gut tells me that this may be a bit lower than NCAA D-III. The NCCAA is is Christian College Athletic Association./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:20 pmMDaniels84 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:16 pmf9580732ef44760eb0c857da7cc0804c.jpg

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
I beg to differ on this. Ask Coach K, Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, all SEC coaches, etc., etc., etc. All premier programs will ALL say, yes we want to win our conference BUT their #1 goal is to win the NC. Our goal was to get to NY6. As has been said, it probably would have required 12-0 but 11-1 may have gotten it done depending on UGA and other top G5s performances. UGA has been doing their part except for this weekend.
Either 12-0 or 11-1 would have automatically meant SB title. We want our program to be a top dog G5 so bottom line is we HAVE to set our goals to the highest level we can each year meaning NY6. That is the holy grail of G5. Just winning SB is not good enough.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
For Coach K and Saban their goal might be a national championship and for them that is a realistic goal - Basketball is totally different because of the expanded playoffs - Winning the Conference Championship is the realistic goal - As a coach you must set realistic goals and that doesn't preclude having loftier goals HOWEVER, the MAIN goal has to be realistically attainable --- You won't find many football teams reaching ultimate goals without winning their conference championship - And I do believe that was always Coach Moore's mantra ---

It's possible to go 7-6 (6-2 in conference) regular season and win the conference title game. Especially once we split to divisions. Would that be acceptable?

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
Number one goal is to win. That's always the top goal. Not just win enough to be Co-Champs. You may be content winning/sharing the Sun Belt with a 8-4 record, but that won't go far in the grand scheme of things.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 8:20 amCome on EastHall - the goals at the beginning of the season are totally irrelevant - we aren't going 12-0 and NY6 - we aren't going 11-1 and NY6 - What is always the #1 goal of any team is to be CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS - That goal is still there and within reach - You can look back all you want and downplay a shared conference title all you want and call it a consolation prize - but you know what --- they don't add an asterisk at the bottom of the Championship Trophy or the Championship Rings saying --- *Oh but you lost to UMass ---
Unbelievable --- please don't ever go into coaching ---

What the hell do you guys want to see happen??? - lose our games so you can come on here and bitch and moan??? - This only goes back to where we were a week ago, not the beginning of the season - last week the posts on here about how we suck and how the coaches don't know what they are doing and how the season is such a disappointment --- I said at that time, a week ago, we could still be conference champs and some agreed and some just wrote it off - I guess some of you are only happy when you are bitching ---

Sorry if I ruined the rah-rah post WV. I'm glad you're happy to be 6-4. Enjoyed the win Thursday and will be pulling hard for us to win the last three.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
Bingo. 11-1 would have likely meant a top 25 finish, which would have been a bigger deal than a conference title with or without a NY6 bid.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 2:17 pmI beg to differ on this. Nonetheless, the nature of college football means nearly every team has to readjust their goals as the season goes on. Again, great to see us get back on track Thursday, and here's to winning out and bringing home two more trophies.

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---
How does wanting better play and more wins, especially close games lead you to believe I want to lose? I appreciate you being optimistic about what's left to play for this season, but expectations weren't met, and many games have not been the best of performances. We're bowl eligible which is a goal I am sure, as is winning the conference, but I'm certain after this season they will look back on what could have been done better. I'm just not certain we've fixed some of our issues, because you couldn't tell playing shitty opponent.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 3:28 pmWhat the hell do you guys want to see happen??? - lose our games so you can come on here and bitch and moan??? - This only goes back to where we were a week ago, not the beginning of the season - last week the posts on here about how we suck and how the coaches don't know what they are doing and how the season is such a disappointment --- I said at that time, a week ago, we could still be conference champs and some agreed and some just wrote it off - I guess some of you are only happy when you are bitching ---
