Re: Updated Bowl Projections
Any hotel suggestions in Orlando? Preferably where other App fans stay. And oh, maybe a Lazy River and nice pool. And nice bar.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
I have no problem with 6-6 teams getting a bowl bid, I enjoy college football so the more games the better. However, I agree that I would rather not see a 5-7 team in a bowl, but sometimes it's necessary (it doesn't happen that often).
Sun Belt will have 5, maybe 6 bowl eligible teams. I think ULL gets win #6 vs Vs. Ga Southern and then NMSU could get to 6 wins by beating Idaho and S. Alabama.
App wins out they will be 8-4 with at least another share of conference title; every App fan should be happy with that result. If they lose out and 6 sun belt teams have 6+ wins, App could be left out. I could see the following:
N.O. Bowl-ULL
DG Bowl-Troy
Camellia Bowl-A State
Cure-GSU
Aizona-NMSU

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
The only way App gets picked over is if the bowls believe we won't sell more tickets than the alternative. There's no way Georgia State sells more than us.APP93 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:28 amI have no problem with 6-6 teams getting a bowl bid, I enjoy college football so the more games the better. Re: Updated Bowl Projections
Unless Georgia State is a co-champ. Champs are guaranteed a bowl bid. New Orleans would still take UL. Troy or StAte would be the other co-champ and get a bowl. NM State would get Az bowl. Then it would be 6-6 App vs the Troy / StAte loser. I don't think this scenario is probable, but if everything goes wrong, maybe. Win Saturday and App is in. Win both and we are guaranteed.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
I think if ULL doesn't get eligible, there's a decent chance the Camellia would take Georgia State over us because that would be the preference of both App and the league, and App fans (read: ticket buyers) as well.
And again, if we're 6-6 and they're 8-3 I don't think we can make any absolute statements about relative ticket sales, especially where Montgomery is concerned. We'd be in uncharted territory at that point.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
Not sure about other App fans staying here, but the Hilton Bonnett Creek fits the other items nicely (lazy river, nice pool, nice bar(s) plus good restaurants and nice rooms). It is in Disney properties and not too far from the Stadium, just up I-4. The Reunion resort also has a nice lazy river and other things (plus nice golf courses) but it is further away (about 15 minutes further down 1-4). There are several others around the area with lazy rivers and amenities but I have personally stayed at both of these and would easily recommend both. I only live an hour or so outside of Orlando and for one reason or another have stayed in a ton of places over there, these 2 stand out for sure.

Is the JW Marriott Grande Lakes too far away? $149 AAA RATE. I have visited the Hilton Bonnet Creek. Nice property. And AAA rates for some of these places are pretty decent.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
The only way that I see us going to NOLA is if Troy wins next week. If Arky St. wins then NOLA Bowl will take them and DG will take Troy. Which leaves Camilla and Cure. I don’t see us getting Camilla three years in a row.

Why don’t you think NOLA would take Troy if they win? Seems to me our best shot for that game would be a stAte win.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
First and foremost, this is my opinion only. I have no first hand knowledge of anything. I think that the DG Bowl would want the team that has the best chance to bring the most fans and Troy would bring the most given their proximity and game date. I realize that NOLA gets the first pick but we all know that these selections aren’t made without the input of ESPN and the conference. As for Arky St., I don’t think the league will allow their native son be skipped over and sent to Montgomery or Orlando (for a second time).EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 9:26 pmWhy don’t you think NOLA would take Troy if they win? Did DG not say we were in for NO last year if La had not qualified? What is different about this year assuming we finish. I say App NO, Troy DG, Ark Cam, GaSt Cure,

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
What's potentially different is a 10-win Troy team that shares the title with us and beat LSU. I would think that would be pretty appealing for NOLA.
That said, I'll say if we win next week we go to NOLA; if we lose, Orlando. Based not entirely on logic and somewhat on the "surely it won't be Montgomery again, right?" principle.

Re: Updated Bowl Projections
Thought about starting a new thread for this, but I'll just put it here:
If you want a new bowl experience this year, consider voting with your ticket orders. That is, if you're thinking, "Well, I hope it's not Montgomery again, but I'll be there regardless," maybe don't preorder tickets for Montgomery. Rest assured there will be plenty available after the bowls are announced if that's where we wind up.
By focusing those preorders on the other bowls, perhaps we'll increase our chances of actually going to one.
