Thankfully, most college AD's (including ours) are well aware of what's going on in D.C. and are doing what they can to fight this. I'm sure there will be some creative ideas to help raise the funds we need. Stay tuned for final legislation. It's quite likely that what eventually passes Congress will be significantly different from what we're seeing now.

Let’s hope so. The house bill that passed is even worse for under grads and graduate students than it is for universities. It is a whack at the knees to higher education.

Should you really get to count your price of admission to a sporting event as a contribution?

I currently do but don’t buy them because of it.

If you are only giving to a cause because of a tax deduction you’re missing the point.

99.9% are like you, the deduction is gravy but not the reason. Another red herring by the 4 letter network. A reduction in tax rate and reduction in deduction is a wash

I certainly do not, but the person giving $5k, $10k or $20k may have a different opinion.

Just glad I might finally get to write of some of my private jet expenses.

It’s the ADs who are saying these things, not the “4 letter network”.

Nonsense. Nobody is going to give up season tickets over this. Now the tax bill sucks but this is not the problem.

Buying a ticket or a t-shirt of a school technically makes you a booster, so I believe so.

You don't have to give much in most cases to be eligible. So I can see this reducing donations overall. If I for example get the same benefit for $1000 as I would for $5000 and there is no carrot do I still give $5000? Some would some will not. AD's will have to step up the giving levels will be the result IMO.

This is nothing. Start paying players and then you will see a hit in donations. A big one IMO.

If you pay players go ahead and shut down competitive college sports outside of the top 70 programs.
