Sweet. So Penn St will be breaking in a new OC and a new RB in their first game next season.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Let's get a bigger buyout with a home and home scheduling clause in his contract.

UCF is the one I’ll really be holding my breath over. And USF, if it comes open.

Also, Tennessee is apparently significantly interested in Doeren now since Gundy turned them down. If NCSU comes open I'd be pretty damn scared.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:36 amUCF is the one I’ll really be holding my breath over. And USF, if it comes open.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
All of the Florida schools that aren't UF or FSU seem like stepping stones these days. Which isn't bad for a coach, I guess, but Satt doesn't strike me as someone who has any interest in hanging out in Tampa or Orlando for two years, hoping for a better gig to come calling. At least not at this point in his life and career.
I'd be far more worried about State, Chapel Hill, or another close-by school. I thought UT may have bitten, but it sounds like they're pushing for Chad Morris or Kevin Steele at the moment. That job seems like a trainwreck right now, though, especially if their search process is any indication.
(eta: I didn't read diehardapp18's post before I commented, but I guess great minds think alike.)

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I just don’t know that there is a reason for him to uproot his family at this time. His sons are fixtures on the local high school team and his daughter is going to start high school shortly. Anyone that has or has had teenage daughters will tell you moving them at this point in their social development is an emotional train wreck. Given his, and more importantly, his wife’s happiness with living in Boone, that he would be willing to move at this point.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Obviously. The point was he was never a serious contender, so why not interview to put on the pressure for a higher salary. I would not blame him if he did. The more interviews he has, the higher his stock will go.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:36 amHe does, but if any SEC school is serious about hiring him then any pay raise we offer would be irrelevant.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I don’t disagree with your premise. I think you interview to insure future interviews. If he turns down interviews now because he isn’t ready to go, then eventually they will stop asking him when he is ready.

We will be breaking in a new QB. Your guess is as good as mine as to who that will be next year. Haven't blown out teams to really get a look, and even when we have, backup playing time has been limited.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Good for him. Glad he's getting recognition for a job well done and for consideration for these jobs. Although I'd hate to see him go I'd be happy for him. Any of us, in our current jobs, would and should at least keep our eyes open as to what else is out there and at least listen to an offer. Same for coaches. Can always say no thanks to it. I never begrudge any coach or player for moving on to meet their goals.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I think the proof will be in the pudding, regardless of how many interviews he has. If he's successful the phone will continue to ring, even if he shows no interest.
The best way to make a great job better is threaten to leave. I'm not saying this was his motivation, but it may have been. There is no doubt Satt is in the driver seat right now.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
I disagree. Satt. is probably already the highest paid employee in Watauga County. I suspect he's near his ceiling. We can't match the competition, but we can replace a coach.yosef13 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 12:11 pmI think the proof will be in the pudding, regardless of how many interviews he has. Re: Satterfield Interviews
Having a couple of friends who have been/are head coaches at major universities they have told me in the past that they would take any legitimate interview, even if they knew/felt they wouldn't get the job - said every interview prepares you in some way for the next one, and they always learned from and adapted as they progressed thru their careers ---

We can't compete with P5's, but we can compete with half of the AAC, which is where I would guess he lands. None of us really know how much DG is willing to pay to keep Satt in town, but I think it's as much as most of the AAC is willing to pay.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Because I think they're in the range of jobs that would be legitimately interested in him, be a reasonably good geographical fit, and be enough of a step up in pay and opportunity that he'd be interested in them.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:37 amWhy do these two make you pause?EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:36 amUCF is the one I’ll really be holding my breath over. Re: Satterfield Interviews
I could see these as a possibility if they were open in four or five years but not right now. The pay increase would be attractive but I don’t think he is someone that is going to chase the money.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 1:11 pmBecause I think they're in the range of jobs that would be legitimately interested in him, be a reasonably good geographical fit, and be enough of a step up in pay and opportunity that he'd be interested in them.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:37 amWhy do these two make you pause?EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 10:36 amUCF is the one I’ll really be holding my breath over. Tennessee: In the latest installment …. sources tell FootballScoop Tennessee is pivoting to Dave Doeren when Jeff Brohm says no.
http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/
if Doeren says yes, then this may become interesting.
