I think people may look at him but I really don't think he's actively looking but, here again, I am not him or his family...

Re: Satterfield Interviews
My first call would be to our own SE. He learned under 2 of the best, Coach Moore and Spurrier, and has done wonders in a single year with Georgia State. They guy knows how to coach, and we all know he is Black and Gold to the core. If Scott leaves, bring Shawn back up the mountain.TheMackAttack wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 10:43 pmHe would be my third call behind Tim Horton and Stacy Searels. I think there's a genuine chance that those two guys would stick around for 10 years and end their career here. Mike Houston is more likely to bolt after three seasons and there's something to be said for stability.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Elliott would be a disaster. His year at GA State is very deceiving. Started 13 seniors and won a ton of tight games. I would rather not have him.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
He started 13 seniors who had never won anything in college and had them competing for a sunbelt title late in the season. Other than that you got any other reasons for being so certain a coach would be a “disaster”?

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Maybe it wasn’t the right time. His career path was on a different trajectory than Scott’s. So while I get your point, I don’t think that you should automatically discount someone for past decisions.

Didn't USC give him a pay raise just to keep him? They knew we'd come calling.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Mike Houston. Sure, he may not stay long, but that is who we are. I’d rather have a great coach for a few years than a mediocre coach forever. Unless you can find an older good coach who has been there and done that and is looking for somewhere to cruise into retirement, like Cut at Duke. We had that in Jerry, but they aren’t a dime a dozen. I don’t believe any younger coach who would come in here and deliver what we expect can be expected to remain long, even someone from the family like Satt.

Don't overlook Dwayne Ledford, or Nate Woody. In any event I don't get the impression that Scott is actively seeking another position but is on several search firms , and agents lists.Enjoy the ride....

I hope Satt is here for years to come, but if we’re talking about possible replacements, I think Brian Bohannon from Kennesaw State deserves a look. They’re 12-1 so far and upset Jax State last night. And he built that program.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Uh, Elliott turned the job down before Satt? That's the first I've heard of that, and would be surprised if it were true. Anyone else know anything about it?
Regardless, I'd consider him but he woudn't be my first choice. His team did better than I expected this year, but not really any better than GSU did two years ago. He just strikes me as more of an OL coach than a HC. We'll see.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
He does, but to be fair Mike Houston did the same at Lenoir Rhyne but doesnt at JMU.
I would hope we would find someone that would keep the bulk of the schemes we are running now, since we are having the success that we are

Me too. But if wants to implement the TO, then I would pass. I’m sure Gillin would ask for the plan.

Re: Satterfield Interviews
Lets not worry about it until there's something to worry about it. We have depth, a reputation and a winning program which will be an appealing equation for any accomplished head coach to step into if the need were to arise. It's probably easier to find a top notch coach who wants to go to an already established program than a dumpster fire that has to be completely gutted and rebuilt.
I'm sure Troy and stAte are having similar nervous conversations, especially now that UCF is looking for a new HC.
