Re: North End Zone project update
The optimal spot is the old WHS property. But we arent removing the track, building over it, covering it with field turf, etc until a new home for Track and Field is determined and constructed. We might be moving some dirt this offseason, but we will not be building up, the NEZ project for some time.

Re: North End Zone project update
Yes that was my point. Until there is a spot to put the track I don't see how the project can move forward. My understanding is that using the old high school is far from a given at this point.bigCasu wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:34 amThe optimal spot is the old WHS property. Not sure who you're talking to but you might need some new sources.

Re: North End Zone project update
Info a few weeks old so most certainly could of changed but pretty good source at the time that a few different things were being considered. You know better than I do though as you are there all the time.

Re: North End Zone project update
Has anyone heard anything new about the Old WHS property since the sale announcement? I looked at the watagua democrat article again and its super vague about what the plans are for it. I would assume there wouldn't be any major changes at KBS until a new track facility is in place. Track season is only a couple months away and I imagine any new facility construction is at least 3 years away from being conpleated with the Pland being submitted for UNC BOG approval, bids being placed and the time for construction.

The old high school property purchase has been shrouded in mystery from the beginning. I don't think there was any specific need that was addressed by the purchase other than the fact that the university is running out of viable real estate options for expansion in town limits.

Where did the money come from? The Appalachian Foundation? I would assume the account that the money came from would shed a little light on what the plan is. I never heard anything beforehand about state money being appropriated for the purchase. Did athletics chip in at all?

"...funding sources are planned to be $5 million in athletic gifts, $5 million in food services revenues and $28.2 million in Millennial Campus debt."
Interesting, that's 5 mm and the gift was 10, wheres the other 5 going? (not that it matters, i'll take it anyway we can get it, just curious.

I support athletics but I don't agree with building things they can't raise the money for themselves. This building will only serve Yosef club members and student athletes, not the students/ parents chipping in 5 million.

There will be revenue streams from the private partnership part especially the much-needed on campus orthopedic services. At least that’s the way I understand it.

This is not a Yosef Club building. It will serve numerous functions. A gift of 30 MM was given last month, and I think this project will be around the 40 MM mark. While all of that 30 MM will not be allocated to the project, I think it shows that they can indeed "raise the money themselves".

A gift of 30 million? Yeah I don't think so unless it was hush hush.yosef13 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 8:34 amThis is not a Yosef Club building. It will serve numerous functions. Oh yes, typo. 10 MM. The point is we can raise enough to justify the project, and this is not just for the Yosef Club.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 9:28 amA gift of 30 million? Student money given in exchange for food, left over after paying the overhead for serving said food. It's not a fee. It seems to pass the basic economics test to me. At least theoretically, & based on its title. "Revenue"

In the business world, that is called profit. So in theory its a money making operation that turns around and help service debt. Brilliant!
