Re: Interesting Idea ---
Nick Saban just said in an interview that he thinks that all P5 schools should just play P5 schedule. He is in favor of playing more Conference games. Hope this doesn't happen but he is probably not the only P5 Coach with this attitude.

Saban is full of HUD!
2017 OOC:
FSU
Fresno St.
CSU
Mercer
FSU was the only OOC autonomous program Bama played. He should practice what he preaches. When his program stops scheduling Mercer and replaces them with another $100m+ program while not getting a lopsided 7-8 home game schedule then I’ll start caring what Saban has to say. There are a lot of autonomous programs who would end up with sub .500 seasons regularly if all they could schedule was other “big time” programs.

So, if the options are having a perfect season, with a perfect schedule and then getting the nod over the big money programs (such as an Alabama, who didn't even make their conference championship game) vs. a legitimate playoff against quality Division 1 programs that we have a chance to compete in every year: I'll gladly take the second option. Otherwise, the realistic 18 out of 20 year scenario is to play for a conference championship, then play in a pre-Christmas Bowl Game and have the slim chance of playing in a post-Christmas bowl in the 19th season.moonshine wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 7:41 pmYou never know who will be a top ranked team due to schedules being put together so far in advance and it would likely take several stars aligning (ie. Go undefeated by beating 2 autonomous programs, beating 2 solid G5’s, winning the conference that hopefully ranks #1 or #2 amongst G’s and probably having several 2-3 loss autonomous programs) for a team to crack the autonomous playoff. Houston had a chance a couple years ago after beating OU but they wet the bed against Navy IIRC.
So in theory, it’s possible just not probable.
An eight team playoff still leave too much subjectivity on the table. (This year it would add Central Florida, Ohio State, Auburn, and a PAC school) We would need a 16-team playoff to help our program in the current scenario.

I get what you’re saying but while you’re voluntarily taking the program out of the CFP for a DIV1 G playoff, please explain how you plan to make up the $1m-$2m in guaranteed money along with the potential for $6m (NY6) that you are walking away from. IMO, if an 8 team playoff gives the top G a spot, that’s probably the best any of us could ask for.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 4:09 pmSo, if the options are having a perfect season, with a perfect schedule and then getting the nod over the big money programs (such as an Alabama, who didn't even make their conference championship game) vs. a legitimate playoff against quality Division 1 programs that we have a chance to compete in every year: I'll gladly take the second option.
