NC State Opening?
Overnight, word that Dave Doeren was weighing an offer from Tennessee and a counter offer from the Wolfpack. This has been the scenario that we have been concerned about. It feels a little like 1988-89 to me when Joe Morrison passed away and South Carolina came calling on Sparky Woods. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. I know SS will do everything possible to keep the focus on ULL.

I predicted Satt would take the NCSU head coach job after the ‘17 season over a year ago. I hope I’m wrong. Raleigh has never been kind to a coach.

I think Scott is holding out for UNC...

Which could be this year...Larry has been eyeing an SEC job for the last year or so...like Mississippi State

Re: NC State Opening?
Fedora would fit into the checkbox for an SEC coach. He is an offensive guy. But honestly is the SEC a overall better league than the ACC these days?

Re: NC State Opening?
As long as they have a good supply of Red Bull, Fedora would be a good fit anywhere. I can't see the Wolfpack taking Satterfield. I think he would do great there, but I don't think the fanbase would like that hire because of their undeserving superiority complex. He would probably be the best coach they'd have since Sheridan, in my opinion, but that's not saying much. Ocain, Amato, O'Brien. Doeren is the only one of those that have had the opportunity to move up after coaching there, so in way it's hard to say that they are unfair to coaches, because no one else has exactly wanted them, either.

Yep, plus I don't really see Fedora being high on anyone's wish list coming off a 3-9 season.
If UNC doesn't bounce back next year, though, that job may come open then.

Re: NC State Opening?
Just my opinion but I think the SEC is still clearly a better league than the ACC (football). The ACC has certainly improved and the SEC has had two or three "down" years by their standards (especially in the East), but there are still more legitimate contenders at the top of the SEC. Clemson has made the ACC look great, and now Miami is helping out but Florida State has collapsed and Virginia Tech continues to plod along at the mid tier.
The SEC has 3 teams in the top 6 and 5 in the top 25. The ACC has two teams in the top 7 and 4 in the top 25 (next highest behind Miami is VT at 22). SEC's #5 team is LSU at #17 in national polls.
The SEC East is clearly down but Florida and Tennessee will not remain where they are for long. There is too much money at those school and frankly, there is too much talent on their rosters. People can joke about Tennessee fans being delusional, but current perspective is skewed because of recent hires. They might not contend for a national title in the next year or two, but they will be back in the top 25.

Re: NC State Opening?
UNC had like 19 players out for the season...and although it's not exactly apples to apples, Jimbo Fisher and FSU went 5-6 this season and he's going to be the next coach at Texas A&MEastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 12:33 pmappst89 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 9:17 amMississippi State no longer has an opening.appaneer1984 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 9:02 amWhich could be this year...Larry has been eyeing an SEC job for the last year or so...like Mississippi State

Re: NC State Opening?
Yep, signed a 5 year contract with a pay raise. My prediction is they'll have 2 down years following this one and he'll then be terminated and have to buy out his contract. Great move on Doeren's part. He apparently played that game well.

I think we should all tell our bosses we've been contacted by UT and see If we can get a raise!
