Who was the QB who scored at the end of the game and the whole team rushed him? The fans sure did cheer for him

Curtis Fitch. Walk on senior who is the red shirted signal caller. Team loves him. Sounds like he was our Rudy

I have to admit I didn’t notice something unique today and wasn’t aware it happened until I watched the press conference. We took a snap under center. How long has it been? Satt said like 15 years or so. Everyone got a good chuckle. Amazing we have not done such a simple thing in so long.

I thought we took a snap under center with Armanti in 2007 after JMU fumbled near the end zone in an effort to center the ball for a FG. I was thinking we called a timeout to give AE a few practice snaps. We were backed up against the end zone and did not want to risk a safety which would have been the difference in winning and moving on R2 of the FCS playoffs. Pierre Banks recovered the fumble. I think I have this game on DVD.

Wish we took more snaps under center in some situations.

I agree. It may not need to happen often but do it a few times for good measure and then when really needed we are a bit more ready.
The massive push on Fitch may not have worked under normal situations, but there was no way he was losing any yardage there and very likely could only go forward as he did given the amount of muscle behind him pushing him forward. This could not happen or be much harder in normal lineup from scrimmage.
His TD was certainly a team effort but on 4th and short that is what we need.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had to look a bit to find it. All the better article given how the game ended for him.
I was rewatching the ending of the game and the camera was on him as Satterfield was telling Ponce to send in Fitch. Fitch bolted away to take off the equipment he uses and wears to call in plays. Watching it after the fact it was very easy to see his excitement in what was less than a few seconds of air time. I think one more play ran before he entered the field. Then he got picked up on the players shoulders. Priceless.
And the kickoff from the 20 still had UL starting behind the 25 yard line so nothing lost in the penalty.

Haven’t heard anywhere but what was wrong with #26 today. Never saw him on the field.
