Re: Bowl projections
Am I wrong to believe that just because the NO bowl picks first doesn't mean that it carries any special significance? The league bowls have to have some kind of selection order for choosing and we all know it's based on expected ticket sales, not on their perception of the quality of the teams? So, getting "passed over" by the NO bowl means nothing. I agree having a bowl in NO would be fun, but it doesn't really carry any other prestige than the other Sun Belt bowls. Am I wrong?

It is a 4 hour marathon starting at noon.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 9:20 amI believe they're all announced during the CFP selection show, which begins at noon on ESPN. I'm sure they'll drag it out as much as possible, and obviously spend most of the time on the CFP itself, so not exactly sure when they get to the smaller bowls.

Re: Bowl projections
I would agree that a bowl is a bowl for pretty much anyone outside of the CFP and the Rose Bowl anymore. This ticket sale factor is why I think that we will be in the Cure Bowl. Mobile is at a bad time in the year to get a sizable travel contingent from far away. That’s why I think Troy goes there. Arky St is Plan B for NOLA when Weezy doesn’t qualify. That essentially leaves the Cure and Camilia. I don’t think the Camelia is plausible three years in a row. We will find out in a couple of hours.Rick83 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 9:46 amAm I wrong to believe that just because the NO bowl picks first doesn't mean that it carries any special significance? Re: Bowl projections
I agree no prestige when they can pick a 6-6 over conference champions. But I still think NOLA is the Bowl that the conference champ would choose if it ever goes to that.

Re: Bowl projections
Disagree, Troy had the same conference record, two more overall wins, one being LSU, and ranked 30th in coaches poll, it was Troy’s to lose yesterday.
Downside for Conference is they were probably best equipped to beat Toledo in DG which I assume we get the task of now.

Re: Bowl projections
Exactly, Troy earned the New Orleans Bowl if that's what they wanted. We had the same conference record and they have the dazzling LSU victory. If we wanted NO, we should have beat ULM to go 8-0 in the conference. Or we should have beat someone like Wake. Don't get the narrative that we were "screwed out" of a certain bowl game. I don't get why so many people get so upset about where we play our bowl. Our bowl games y'all's idea of a vacation? Just go and win the damn game. So many schools would kill to have an 8-4 (7-1) season. Let's embrace it and enjoy every minute of it regardless of where we go.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 2:06 pmDisagree, Troy had the same conference record, two more overall wins, one being LSU, and ranked 30th in coaches poll, it was Troy’s to lose yesterday.

Only understandable gripe about Mobile is the date. I know I probably won't be able to make it to that one and I'm sure a lot of fellow App fans are in similar situations.

Re: Bowl projections
CBS final projection has us playing Marshall in Orlando. Not getting my hopes up but that would be awesome.

FWIW, GSU fan on Belt board says their players have been told the Cure Bowl. No idea of his credibility.

Funny thing about NO Bowl. No matter who goes there will be 24k fans in a 70k mammoth stadium

Re: Bowl projections
I agree....looking like strongest opponent we could hope for would be Toledo....it just sucks due to rematch.....wish we could get out of playing MAC every year.....only better scenario would be play CUSA champ and that alignment won't be allowed
KICK ASS!!!
