Championship Saturday

Unread post by MAD Doctor » Fri Dec 01, 2017 11:13 am

It's difficult to overstate the importance of tomorrow's game for our team and athletic program:
* We should never take for granted the opportunity to play for a D1 football conference championship (NC State hasn't won one since 1979 and UNC-Cheat,1980).
* We have the opportunity to win Back to Back Conference Championships and 3 Bowl Championships in our first 3 seasons of bowl eligibility.
* Next season we know we are going to have to replace a record setting quarterback and several other key players. Also, as SBC competition grows stronger, and a conference championship game is established, it will be much more difficult to win a title.
* While we hope to keep Coach Satt forever, we realistically know that we may soon have to face very significant changes and challenges to our program. We can look no further than Charlotte, Chapel Hill, and Greeneville to see how thankful we should be right now. Carpe Diem.
* Tomorrow we have the privilege to come out and honor amazing senior student athletes like Lamb, Nunn, Sims, Upshaw, etc.. who have given their all to Appalachian State and have achieved so much, and represented our alma mater so well in their time here.

It's a busy time of year to be sure, but if you possibly can make it up the mountain, come out and experience HISTORY tomorrow as we win our SECOND consecutive FBS title! Remember, it will be a very long 9 months after tomorrow before we can tailgate and enjoy football at KBS again.
Loud and Proud. GO APP!

I am supper excited about this game too. I'm just not as sure the whole fan base realizes how important it is. Doesn't seem to have the same buzz for these conference games like we did for our big SoCon games.

This is huge as a fan for bragging rights. We'll have bragging rights over all the other conference teams (especially the annoying stAte fanbase if they lose) and every team in the state. Carolina is only other FBS program in the state to even PLAY for a conference championship this decade. So a win tomorrow solidifies us as the top(most successful) program in the state IMO.

Certainly is a big deal tomorrow! I’m bringing 11 family members. Hopefully, some of the young ones will fall in love with App and become future Mountaineers 🤗

Hell yes this is an important day. Hoping for a big App win so we get 2017 Sunbelt Championship and the best bowl possible. I hope Troy beats the snot out of Arkansas St today too. We are packing up the truck right now and heading to Boone. It looks to be a beautiful day for another historic Mountaineer win. Section 111 will be loud today!

Also, if you have not heard, we get into the Bball game for free against USF at 7pm with your football game ticket, so we will get a 2nd tailgate today! Go Apps!!!

Was at the game. Are we that good or is Laugh-e-ette that bad?

To be passed over three times; NOLA, Mobile and Mont to go to Disney is just a smack to our fan base ability to travel.

Or a blessing. Going to Mobile for a rematch or Montgomery x 3 would be a disaster. I would much rather have Orlando.

A bit of both. We were healthier. Freshmen have become seasoned. We were able to execute in all phases of the game, (see reasons above). LaLa had a poor attitude that was fostered by their coaches less than enthusiastic approach to traveling to Boone. Attitude reflects leadership. Their will was broken early when we went up 21-7 and realized they weren’t going bowling.
