Given the adversity this team overcame this season....much like the 07 NC season I recall....if Satt is not a high candidate for SBC COTY I would be surprised.

Someone needs to pull the records for all G5 teams for the past 3 years. I’m willing to bet we are top 10

Well App has been getting plenty of mileage out of the stat about best record among G5s over the last 3.5 years. Just over the last three we're now 29-9. Without looking it up I'd actually guess that's at least top 5.

People were pissed about losing P5 contests in consecutive years largely because of missed opportunities for points. Those people expressed displeasure in various ways, all have been vindicated IMO. So negative fans are not always wrong.

The Football account tweeted this out a few days ago. 43 might seem like an arbitrary number, but it dates back to mid 2014 AKA the loss to Liberty.

And most of us can detail the losses:
2 blowout P5’s
1 P5 OT loss
1 P5 block kick loss
1 bad OT loss (OOC)
1 ugly conference loss (state)
3 tight conference losses
Sound about right?

Close - add one blowout P5 (Clemson, Miami, UGA), and subtract one tight conference loss (Troy, ULM). Though I would argue that losing to ULM this year was pretty darn ugly, regardless of margin.

You are right. Amazing that over 3 years and 38 games we have only 4 that we really can’t make a case for “could have won”. Not counting that state loss and a coulda. They kicked our butts.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 2:18 pmbigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 2:10 pmEastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 1:44 pmWell App has been getting plenty of mileage out of the stat about best record among G5s over the last 3.5 years. WVappeer is the best App State fan ever! I only hope this small tip of the cap is enough. He's the only one who believed in the football team this year and if you don't believe that, just ask him. He'll gladly tell you.

I believe that award should go to NMSUs coach.appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 1:34 pmGiven the adversity this team overcame this season....much like the 07 NC season I recall....if Satt is not a high candidate for SBC COTY I would be surprised.

If this is truly a compliment, then thank you - if not, let me be the first to acknowledge your unwavering support of our great QB Taylor Lamb ---Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 2:26 pmWVappeer is the best App State fan ever! Well that is easy the only 5 teams with a better overall record in the past 45 games are all P5s.

Taylor Lamb had a great final game and a great career. But I will firmly stand by what I’ve always said, he was great against the teams we were better than. He was never great when the lights shined the brightest. I think he got the most out of his ability and I am happy he had a successful career at App. Pointing that out doesn’t make me “anti-Lamb”.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 3:20 pmIf this is truly a compliment, then thank you - if not, let me be the first to acknowledge your unwavering support of our great QB Taylor Lamb ---Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 2:26 pmWVappeer is the best App State fan ever! No the question was which G5 teams have better records over the past 3 years? Good points regarding time frame. Better frame of reference would be since we were 1-5, made some personnel decisions and flipped the switch

You and anybody else are entitled to an opinion. I personally think you are crazy. Look at the loss breakdown. We know what happened at UT- we make a couple of kicks and get a ball to bounce our way we win. We make a reasonable chipshot FG V wake we win. A stop V Troy we win. A better defensive effort this year coupled with a few less injuries and we take UMass- TL had 133 passing and 66 rushing. UL Monroe same defense issue- TL 339 yards and 4 TD.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:52 amTaylor Lamb had a great final game and a great career. Miami, Clemson and UGA. Come on man. Clemson had arguably the top defense in the country and won it all. UGA is final 4 with a top ranked defense. Miami we got boat raced. I guess I could plead his case further but there isn’t much else that can be said. The man was solid and should be remembered among our all time greats. We have stepped up in weight class but our pound for pound overall talent isn’t worlds better than a top FCS team yet.

Hate to assist in this threadjacking, but here we go...Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:52 amTaylor Lamb had a great final game and a great career. I guess that depends on what you mean by "when the lights shined the brightest." Was Lamb great against Clemson, Tennessee, Miami or Georgia? No. With some exceptions, you could say the same about a lot of our team. A couple of those are/were national title contenders; it shouldn't be shocking that we aren't as good as them, across the board.
In other big games:
@ Arkansas State (2014 - W): 14-22, 255 yards, 2 TD/0 INT; 11 carries/46 rush yards/1TD
@ ULL (2014 - W): 11-22, 195, 1TD/1INT; 2/31
Ga. Southern (2015 - W): 14-20, 202, 2TD/0INT; 7/21
Arkansas State (2015 - L): 22-35, 321, 4TD/1INT
Ohio (2015 - W): 13-26, 124, 2TD/1INT; 9/51/1TD
@ Troy (2016 - L): 14-28, 167, 0TD/1INT; 5/12
Toledo (2016 - W): 14-32, 119, 1TD/0INT; 9/126/1 (MVP)
Wake Forest (2017 - L): 26-50, 372, 2TD/0INT; 3/14
The Troy game was a clunker, but otherwise, that's pretty damn good play against relatively evenly matched opponents. And whatever you think of our other competition, I could go on a Boeheim-esque rant about what our record this year would be without Lamb.

Are we allowed to "I told you so" beyond 2017? Because I'm old enough to remember certain West Virginians on MMB that passionately preferred Kam Bryant over who is now one of the 3 best QBs in program history.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 3:20 pmIf this is truly a compliment, then thank you - if not, let me be the first to acknowledge your unwavering support of our great QB Taylor Lamb ---Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2017 2:26 pmWVappeer is the best App State fan ever! WVAPPer, you've always been a classy member of this board, I don't see the point in standing over someone and saying "I was right, you were wrong, na na na boo boo". We do that to Southern fans, not to our own. This is the message board thread of "YOU SUCK A**HOLES" at kickoff.

Probably don't have to go back that far. I think WV, and I say this without going back to look, but was one of the ones telling us how good Tx State was.
