That was pretty clearly his meaning.

Listening to Andy Staples and Tom Luginbill on the college sports station on XM Sunday and they were very complimentary of our program and the transition we made. Even said we could be the “Eadt Coast Boise State”. I like that reference.

Yes...if we had won at least one of our P5 matchups and did NOT lose to UMass. Losing to UMass hurt us big time.

The losses are what they are. I still feel without the injuries our record would be better on those 2 losses and the Wake game that last field goal back would would be ranked in top 25. But not to be this year. No way 9-4 Sunbelt team gets ranked. I would love to see it though

Yeah, but rankings and perception are based on what your record actually is, not what it could've been if everything had gone right. Every team has injuries.Yosefus wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 10:47 amThe losses are what they are. Fans on message boards love saying "well if so and so was healthy we would've beat you". Maybe. Maybe not. But he wasn't and you didn't.

Re: App Best G5 Team?
The guy is using "team" and "program" interchangeably. But it's clear that he's not talking about just this year's team; however, I think we saw Saturday night what this year's team was capable of when relatively healthy. I think the last 44 game comparison plus the fact that we took Tennessee to OT and lost to Wake by 1 with many special teams breakdowns speaks for itself especially since we're really only in our 3rd year of full FBS transition. I'd be interested to see what some of the other top programs have accomplished during that 44 game stretch, like bowl wins, conf championships, and P5 victories.

Over the last 44 games
Boise St. 34-10 6-3 vs P5
Going through some other usual suspects no one has a run even close to that for 44 games except us.
Will say that their p5 wins are impressive but makes you wonder about the strength of the PAC 12 since Boise beats them pretty consistently.

Thanks! Now a follow-up question. Who were the 6 P5 victories against? Were they "upper tier" P5s or more like Wake, Vanderbilt, etc...Boonegoon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:31 amOver the last 44 games

Well they've beaten OU, Georgia, TCU, and Virginia Tech (all outside the PAC 12) in the last 10 or so years. We cant compare ourselves to them until we start doing the same.Rick83 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:34 amThanks! Now a follow-up question. Who were the 6 P5 victories against? I concur. In the past 4 years they have beaten Washington, Wash St., #10 Arizona in Fiesta, Oregon in Bowl this year, Virginia ... Lost to Baylor, Virginia,MtnMan09 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:43 amWell they've beaten OU, Georgia, TCU, and Virginia Tech (all outside the PAC 12) in the last 10 or so years. Re: App Best G5 Team?
Agreed, but we were just looking at the last 44 games, which encompasses our transition from FCS. They've been FBS for far, far longer and although some think otherwise, we've really not completed our transition. But you're right, we've got to start beating P5s, and we will. Except for Wake, and we gave that victory away, we have only played upper tier P5s during our transition who seem to be in the hunt for the NC which continues next year with Penn State. Hopefully, several of their stars will enter the draft and be gone before we show up with our new QB.MtnMan09 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:43 amWell they've beaten OU, Georgia, TCU, and Virginia Tech (all outside the PAC 12) in the last 10 or so years. I really wish we would have knocked off Tennessee or Wake Forest...I'm starting to get tired about everyone talking about the Michigan win a decade ago and not any of our other accomplishments we've done since then....at least they pronounce the name right now, so I guess there's that, lol.

Re: App Best G5 Team?
Beating the Vols would have been an upset, but not a huge one. IMO, Wake upset us.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 3:02 pmI really wish we would have knocked off Tennessee or Wake Forest...I'm starting to get tired about everyone talking about the Michigan win a decade ago and not any of our other accomplishments we've done since then....at least they pronounce the name right now, so I guess there's that, lol.

I know you cant think like this, but I wonder if we win both UT (if he had been here) and Wake with Stanton. I've been impressed with him since he took over.

I have been impressed with Staton too, but I also appreciate Rubino's leg on kickoffs.

Rubino had a good bowl game with his kickoffs.
