The head coach is the most important part of a college football program. Satt is worth every penny.

I say restructure his contract extension and give him a higher salary. He deserves it.

One thing I find interesting, and I do say this with a lot of tongue-in-cheek but Satt has gone from 11 to 10 to 9 wins. A can't believe some anti-FBS person has not brought this up yet.

I like Satterfield and who can argue the success he has had. I believe his base pay is $1.2 million which is about 8 or 9 times what Coach Moore made. And it's about twice what Shawn Elliott is making. So it appears he is compensated adequately. Based on pay alone, I'm not sure Satterfield is twice the coach Elliott is.

$65k. $25k for non-CFP bowl and $15k for winning non-CFP bowl and $25k for 9+ wins. Not a bad Christmas bonus.

Well, OK, sure, but other than that he makes a great point.

Besides the incorrect understanding of Satt’s pay, I find it interesting that the example 78 chose to contrast with was Elliott rather than more accomplished coaches such as Neal Brown or Blake Anderson (who both make more than Satt, but nowhere near his imagined $1.2 million salary). Along with dropping Jerry Moore’s name and what he made as an FCS coach years ago.

I like the concept of the monthly retention bonus, if he's here he gets it, if he leaves he doesn't. Is that common for college football coaches? I'd guess it is. Also, do college coaches use sports agents? Or do they negotiate on their own?

Lastly, does Satt get outside comp for endorsements, commercials, etc.?

LOL...keep in mind that nearly half of that goes to the federal and state governments in taxes of one form or another...so he doesn't even see a lot of that compensation.

By industry standards there is simply no doubt about it. By App State & High Country standards, he's doing pretty well for himself and his family. To get top dollar he will have to move on, just like others. That does not make us wrong or demonstrate a lack of appreciation on our part.

This is very true... as far as folks that make money in Boone - Satterfield is likely the top earner. That includes Frankie G at Sammie's Purse. That's a whole lotta clams to be making in town. Yet, still not gonna be enough if we want to compete with the rest of FBS short term..... All that said, I think coach's paychecks will go down drastically in relation to inflation, and collegiate sports will return to a source of entertainment and scholarship over a money grab within the next 10 years. The federal government will likely no longer be loaning money "no questions asked" for a college education due to 60 - 75% of debtors not having even attempted to pay their debts. Or.... maybe that won't happen. I'm probably just a fool.

What does that have to do with ant-FBS?
