UCF big win for g5

Great showing by UCF. Not a fluke. I hate they are losing their entire staff to Nebraska. That’s what makes it so difficult for smaller programs to break through. Would be nice to see someone stay somewhere with the determination to build a consistent contender from a little guy. $$$$ is most important to most.

Great win and excellent season for UCF. It's a shame their efforts weren't more respected by the committee (and lets face facts, they'll hit #10 in the final rankings, I'd be surprised if it was any higher).

Frost played for Nebraska, so if the opportunity presented itself he was gonna go there anyways.

I was pulling for UCF as I always root for a Great5 over a Prig5. On the other hand this is already becoming fodder for the AAC schools to use the P6 moniker, and I don't care for that.

UCF beat a team that would have been in the playoff with two losses had they won their championship. This year more than the past shows the P5 G5 division already is firmly in place.

When the G5 finishes for the year I finish as well. I wish I was still having my media metered by Arbtiron/Neilson so I could help lower the ratings for the CFP games.

I did watch a bit of the Miami game the other night as it did have an effect on the SB and the Bowl challenge.

Need them to get a couple first place votes. That paired with now two more P5 conferences on the outside looking in is one step closer to playoff expansion.

G5 teams are well above .500 in BCS/NY6 bowl games. We'll see if this one becomes a talking point or just gets forgotten by tomorrow.

CFP committee could really wind up with some egg on its face depending on how the two SEC teams do tonight. Between UCF beating Auburn and the Big Ten nearly running the table in its bowls after getting shut out of the playoff, they might face some pretty harsh second-guessing.

There will always be room for second guessing when they only pick four teams. But Ohio St has no room to bitch this year as they got the pass last year. I don’t know that an eight team playoff makes it anymore clear cut.

UCFs defense kinda reminded me of another Black and Gold defense that dominated on 12/23/17.

I would like to see the 8 team with the highest ranked non p5 getting a spot. UCF would have gotten it this year, but we will never know just how good they were. Plus some G5 coaches might be less likely to jump ship to p5 if they have a realistic opportunity to get in the playoff. As good as UCF is they did not have a shot in the current 4 team.

I don’t think this is a bad idea. The only potential fly in the ointment is that they would probably be seeded 8th and play the top team in the quarterfinals each year. Conference Champs would have to be seeded higher than at large teams.

UCF beat Auburn who beat both national title contenders. I know it probably won’t happen but they should be ranked #2 after the championship. The Knights would get my vote, if I had one.

If I'm UCF, I'm claiming the national title this year. Tee-Shirts, Rings, Parade - the whole bit. If the P5 won't let undefeated UCF in their playoff, then they lose the right to tell UCF they're not the best FBS team. UCF beat everyone on the schedule and as stated above beat the team who beat both finalists in the playoffs.

This UCF team and others like it (Boise & MWC-Utah) are why we don't need a separate G5 playoff. Once we separate ourselves, the best of the G5 teams will never again get the chance to prove how strong they really are.

Their fanbase and school are using that narrative. The only caveat is they're (and the AAC fanbase) is pushing P6 along with it.

Until the NCAA creates a playoff for the FBS like it does for every other sport, there's no such thing as a NCAA national champion. UCF has the best case this year, as the only undefeated team in the NCAA regular season.

UCF is clearly one of the four best teams in college football. There is no remaining defense for their snubbing in the CFP. There is one reason and one reason only that prevented UCF from making the playoff. Follow the money.

Not a fan of the whole P6 thing the AAC is doing. But, UCF should be screaming from the rooftops "We're #1" as no-one can disprove it.

It looked like Ga was going to get trucked last night a the half. That would have been golden for the G5 argument. As it stands the committee saves face.

I don't mind the P6 thing. I'm guessing the main reason some App fans don't like it is that a rival G5 league is doing it. If we were in the AAC I expect there'd be a lot less objection.

Is the AAC really as strong as the P5s now? No. Would they be if they had the institutional advantages of a NY6 auto bid and an equal share of the CFP money that the P5 leagues get? I'm sure that's their goal, anyway.

The AAC is really top-heavy. Sorta like the SEC.

They are planning a parade at UCF.

Funny thing about these G5 undefeated teams. For the life of me, I don't remember who was National Champion* in 2006/07 but I remember Boise State was the only undefeated team that year. And while I doubt I will remember who wins this year's National Championship** a few years from now, I will likely remember UCF was the lone unbeaten team.

*didn't beat undefeated Boise
**didn't beat undefeated UCF and lost to a 3 loss team UCF beat.

Until there is a real FBS playoff with ar least all 10 conference champs like every other sport at any level, they might as well just pick the champ by a poll like the old days.
