I agree that this a great. They beat everyone lined up in front of them. Including the team that can claim victories over both “National Championship” participants.

Non-Qualifier- is a student athlete who has not met the Core GPA or SAT/ACT scores needed. Athlete CANNOT receive athletic scholarship, practice or compete for 1 year. Athlete is also only granted 3 years of eligibility. They can gain back a year of eligibility as long as they complete at least 80% of their degree prior to the beginning of their fifth year of college.

Here's a radical playoff idea.

Definitely different from the other 16-team playoff concepts I've seen. I like it more than the 10 conference champs + 6 at-large idea.

There will be no change that does not further benefit the P5s more than the existing CFP does.

Unless the committee is forced to put a G5 in any playoff there is almost no way in hell it happens. Even if, say an App beats a Penn State and two other strong P5’s in one season they still typically play in a crappy conference which will always weigh heavily. Two years in a row now a strong G5 has gone unbeaten yet hasn’t sniffed the playoff. Why is a NY6 bowl game so much better than a G5 playoff (or something like an NIT which could include P5’s as well)? People complain that there would be separation- it already exists!

Until we field a team with enough talent and depth to beat the strongest P5 programs in a playoff format I won't be losing any sleep for the G5s that think they can, or possibly could have.

I don't think we are a shoo in to win next year's SBC championship game, or even the eastern division, or either any year thereafter, at least until I see next year's team. This past season exposed how far we still have to go depth-wise. Despite our strong finish, Troy posted a better body of work in 2017.

That's where we stand going into our first phase of coaching stability issues since we emerged as a G5 program to be reckoned with. We have bigger fish to fry than worrying about than improving the CFPs.

This format makes complete sense. Which is exactly why the academic institutions won’t go for it.

Competitively, I like it a lot. Financially, I have some questions. What would he financial impact be on G5s of dropping to an 11-game schedule? And would P5 leagues ever agree to end their conference title games?
