Which App State players do you seeing drafted and where?

Gossett is getting a lot of love. Could see him being a 4th round pick.

Speaking of Colby...

Gossett is a big fellow (6’6”, 311), a graduating senior, and a quality athlete who has four starting seasons under his belt at guard and fared well in both pass protection and as a run blocker. He’s not playing for a little anonymous program, either, as Appalachian State has been one of the titans of the FBS for a long time. Gossett checks all the boxes for Atlanta (senior, scheme fit, extensive starting experience), so it’s little surprise they’re interested.

What about Beau Nunn? Has he got a chance? scatman - your York boy.

By all accounts Nunn and Howard both performed well at the NFLPA, both in the game and more importantly in the practices leading up to the game where the scouts get the best chances to see them one on one. Beau was playing OG in the game so I'm sure he had to adjust some but all reports I heard were positive. Howard also got to show his coverage and tackling during the game.

Obviously Colby is getting more coverage now with the Senior Bowl's higher status and his combine invite. Nunn and Howard will get another chance to show at Pro Day, which will probably have a few more scouts there to see Colby as well since he will be drafted. Beau will be with a team somewhere, either as a late pick or a UDFA and so will Howard. It'll all depend on how deep the OL (and S) pool is and how they get ranked by the scouts after all the pre draft days are done.

What about Eric Boggs?

For anyone who didn't play in a all star bowl we'll have to wait until Pro Day before we'll have a true judge as to their status. Until then anything is just a WAG.

We have several Sr's that will get shots from both the NFL and CFL. It's all going to come down to the Pro Day and how they do. As long as our PD isn't socked in with a lot of P5 PD's we'll have a large group of scouts here. We've done a pretty good job of planning around that in the past few years and I expect we'll do the same again this year.

Looking ahead a bit here, but I have two questions.

1) Will Clifton be the highest draft pick in App history (right now #1 would be Brian Quick with pick 33 or 34 I believe), the only thing holding him back is his measurables.

2) will he declare after this season?

Clifton Duck is a pretty darn good college cornerback, but I think you're getting way, way ahead of yourself.

Clifton Duck is a pretty darn good college cornerback, but I think you're getting way, way ahead of yourself.

He’s a really small dude. Agree, way ahead of yourself but that would be cool to see him really take off. Probably needs a pic 6 at PSU or some other spectacular play.

Clifton may be picked up as an UDFA. He doesn't have the speed or the fluid athleticism that most outside corners at the top level possess. I doubt he can lock guys down in man coverage and doesn't have the length to be a zone corner. If he was 3 inches taller and had longer arms, similar to James Bradberry, he would likely make it. However, to me, his measurables will overcome his production in the eyes of the NFL. Seems like he may be a decent Canadian prospect.

One guy gets drafted (Gossett), three others get Camp invites (Howard, Nunn, and Simms)

I would guess Boggs' workout will be big for him. Production is obviously there and he's big enough - how will he test in speed/agility?

As for Duck, I could see him as a nickel corner in the NFL.

I also wonder about Stringer. He's obviously more physically suited to play safety in the pros, and I do think he has the speed/strength numbers to do it, but does he have the coverage skills to make that transition?

Stringer to the XFL 2020. He would be a great personality.

I agree East on Stringer. I think he will do very well at our pro day. He is very athletic. He reminds me athletically of Middleton. He tackles better and maybe a third of a step slower... maybe a low 4.5 but is plenty enough speed for a safety in the NFL. The big question is can he do enough at the pro day to get the scouts thinking?
