We booked a room for 2 nights at the Comfort Inn Duncansville - Altoona for $129 a night. It looks to be less than an hour out from State College according to Google Maps. Only 172 days until kickoff. I cannot wait!!

Per a friend: Check out www.nittanyrv.com
If any of you or anyone you know is planning to go, this option is great as you can split it as a group, save money, and tailgate for two straight days!
If you call to book, ask for Sharon and let her know you are with App as she said she would make sure our fan base is all together.
Help spread the word, this is a cool alternative to the normal accommodations for our road trips.

Sounds pretty cool. You would think they would give you more detail about how many the RVs sleep, pricing, etc.

Altoona to State College is a pretty easy drive on game day. All four lane.

Harrisburg to State College gets tricky about 15 miles outside of State College due to four lane going down to two lane. It'll be worse this coming season due to some new construction building a bypass around a small town that is a major bottleneck and accident prone.

If anyone is coming to the game, I'd highly recommend pre-ordering your parking as it's $20 in advance but a whopping $60 day of game.

Thanks for the info. We're staying in Altoona because it looked like a fairly easy commute. I'm looking forward to seeing more of where college football history lives. That's one of the nice things about being a smaller school getting to play some of the larger schools. I've been able to go to games in stadiums I might otherwise not have visited. See you in September.

How do we pre-order parking?

You'll be able to buy parking via PSU's ticketmaster site. However, general public sales aren't available until June 26.

If you'll be in town that Friday, you can also buy advanced parking at the ticket office (the arena across the street from the stadium) until 4:30pm Friday.

Call Penn State's ticket office (1.800.648.8269). They're very polite and accommodating. You won't be requesting a specific lot - just general, non-reserved parking. The Family Friendly (no alcohol) lot shows as being general parking but is already full with season ticket holders.

Yes there is more than ample parking. You'll be given a yellow parking pass (google for the parking map). There's no concern about selling out of parking. The only tips for parking in general parking is your intentions on how fast you want to leave after the game. Depending on where you park, you can get out of the area really fast, or sit in traffic for a while.

I can give tailgating tips later.

**Just FYI for those traveling to the game with young children.**

I called to make sure I didn't need a ticket for my 5 month old and was told, 'per Big10 rules, every person attending an event needs a ticket to enter, regardless of age'. What a bummer!! Wasn't expecting that but as someone else mentioned the woman I spoke to was very nice about the whole thing. Just disappointing to pay full price for a kid who may not make it through the whole game. Oh well, not missing this one!

The trick for young "lap" kids is to just buy a single ticket right before the game from someone just trying to get rid of it. You'll pay under face value.

Many thanks for joining this board and giving advice! One question: There are several yellow lots. Does that mean a yellow parking pass is good for either lot, first come, first served?

Yes, a yellow pass will get you in any yellow lot. Lots will open at 7am (for a noon game) or 8am for all other kickoff times.

Anyone know where to get a RV pass?

I'm honestly not sure about RV parking. They really changed things up last year with how RV parking works and it made getting RV parking more difficult. You used to be able to get single game RV parking the same way as car parking. I'd call them up and ask.

Otherwise, the secondary market would be your best bet.

Hey Smokey do you have a link to a popular Penn State message board? Do you know by # the student sections at Beaver stadium? I'm want to buy better than visitor seats and bringing two children, no need to be close to students, you understand. 8-)
