Maybe I missed it, but is there an automatic bowl tie-in for the SBC Champ, now that we have a playoff? Will the New Orleans, DG, and Camelia rotate?

I know this is for the PC police but I was watching a special on the confederate flag and statutes. There is a statue of Jefferson Davis at the Montgomery statehouse across from where we tailgated and I’m surprised teams/conferences/players haven’t asked for it to come down. Be curious to see if this happens

I know that it's just 1 day but the Dollar General Bowl being on the 22nd vs the 23rd of December is huge if that's where we end up again. It'll be something I could actually go to and be back before Christmas Eve.

SBC has no designated bowl for the champ. The New Orleans Bowl seems to follow the logic of the decision tree below. Seems unlikely that an east coast team will ever be selected based on their established precedent. Camellia/DollarGen/Cure will remain our usual suspects until bowl contracts expire.

No chance at NOLA this year as I expect ULM to get to six wins.
Likely looking at Camellia or Cure as I expect a combination of ULM, Ark. St., and Troy to get NOLA and DG.
Need to get to six wins first however.

IMHO: As much as I personally like the location of the Cure Bowl, I don’t know if it will ever be in play for us unless we specifically ask for it. The rationale is that as long as ESPN has a say, we will go to one of the bowls that they control. They like us and we produce ratings for them so I doubt that they want us in a bowl they don’t televise. I could be wrong.

They have been talking about it for a while. I read an article when we were there in 2015 that is was being debated. The monument is pretty impressive as a piece of art actually. No comment on the moral arguments.
Edit: State legislature not teams or conferences debating.

Speaking of PC police, I just heard there is a petition going around at George Washington University to change their mascot from The Colonials to The Hippos. Why? Because, the name Colonials may be offensive to international students. Un-Damn-Believable!! KMA

Well that’s understandable. Hippos are indigenous to the DC Metro area.

Apparently people with common sense and gonads are indigenous too.

Swamp Rats might be more appropriate.

Not surprising at all. These types sit up all night thinking of things to be offended about...or for others to be offended about.

PC started out being a good idea. However, it's been misused so much that it has gotten to the point of being nothing more than a joke.

There are Kangaroos in VA and Camels in NC. Hippos in the Potomac is as believable.

I canoe/kayak the South Branch of the Potomac River in West Virginia. I've not seen any Hippos there, however, I've seen a lot of Bald Eagles. I don't believe there will ever be Hippos up that way, but, my friend swears up and down that he saw Sasquatch one night.

Hippos will only be an option until fat people are offended.
