Saturday, as the day winds down, the Ike Belk Track will see its time come to an end. While the track may move to a new location in Boone, its history will never be forgotten.

When will it officially be torn up? That article says this year! I thought it would be for the 2019 season?

I think a high school property announcement is coming because the article didn’t say where the track was moving and I don’t remember hearing about a new track center being built.

There's a good likelihood that the "new" track will one day bear the Ike Belk name. Although lke died earlier this year, I'll venture to say DG will approach the Irwin Belk Educational Foundation for financial support of "Impact." Track was one of Ike's life-long interests. Over the years, he donated to the construction of some 30 college and university track facilities in NC and SC--including App.

They better announce a new track and field complex soon otherwise it's disrespectful to the most successful program in ASU history.

Let's just keep the current track, nothing wrong with it. It works well and isn't a big deal.

I doubt they release this without a move to announce the track facility to follow.

So what did they decide on as the actual plan for removing it? Haven't seen that anywhere. I'm assuming just covering it over with turf?
