Cool article!

The author described App's offense as "old-timey".

While I appreciate his compliments, I disagree with his analysis. To me, "old-timey" is the Power-I; 3 yds & a cloud of dust.

I think what is not "old-timey" is App's zone blocking schemes; used with parts of the triple option running game.

I also think he misses some of the option schemes too.

But, we will see soon enough. Cannot WAIT to play Penn State. Based on what I have seen & heard thus far, Penn State fans are top notch. Looking forward to getting to meet some at the game.

Run defense is the biggest concern for PSU this season, IMO. We have a bunch of unproven DTs and LBs, and we are not going to have the same level of run support help from the safety position as we did last year. App State will be a real test and could foreshadow how well we handle teams like Michigan and Wisconsin in conference play.

Old timey = punch you in the mouth and come stop us. Hopefully we run the ball well. If not it may be a long game.

interesting reference to the offense run while Joe Gibbs was ringmaster. He was one heck of a coach. Probably still is.

Interesting analysis and I don't find much fault from looking at the bowl game. For that matter many of App's games throughout Taylor Lamb's career, but App has a new QB with a bigger arm. As with many of these "money" games, I'll be curious to see if either team throws some different looks with different personnel.

Of course I'd rather watch App punch the apparently questionable PSU run defense right in the mouth and make that game really interesting! Interesting, like Flory forces a McSorely fumble at the goal line in overtime and this time App recovers the loose ball for the win, interesting.

That was probably the most fun and informative opposition authored article I’ve ever seen. That author knows more about last years run scheme than most app fans.

The dude did some good film analysis. Problem is, he won't have much to review from the Zac attack so that will be a big unknown for their defense.

They will load up the box to stop the run and try to put heavy pressure on Zac to get him to make a mistake. This will force him to either beat them with the pass or force our run game to drive into a stacked box.

Even with a Sr. Jalin Moore and some other darn good RB's, I'd be surprised if our offense looks the same in 2018 as it did against Toledo. We have too many weapons at WR and a QB with a very different passing capability. I do agree with AtlAppMan though that Penn State will load the box and put pressure on Zac. We will see if his mental maturity equals his physical skills.

We know we have a very good running game, however, by everyone’s opinion including our coaches, we have the most talented WR corps as a whole unit in our programs history. If we do not substantially incorporate that into our offensive game planning day one we will be missing out on a big opportunity. If that happens I personally would be greatly disappointed because we would not be utilizing all our weapons. It would only make our running game that more effective.

That was a good read. I love the use of gifs in these types of articles.

Also, can we avoid trying to make the "Zac Attack" a thing we say? We can do better than that.... ;)

I am all ears and open to anything cute you have. I was making a joke but since you said you can do better, definitely willing to go with anything you have that is better. Wha'chu got? :)

Solid quote from the defensive breakdown

I don't think anything implying "sucking" would be a good option here. If you have to explain it, choose something different.
