Given the choice, I say go for the first, at least that is what I was saying while watching. I was disappointed they tried the FG. APP torched them in that 4th qtr., was able to do whatever they wanted, I felt confident they would have picked up the first and with that and another positive play would have been looking at one in the 40 yr range...PSU was on the ropes and APP was in complete command. Hard to be disappointed with such a great game, but we had it so it's tough to swallow.

If he makes it, we’re all talking NY6 and happy drinking. He didn’t, so we get to drown our sorrows and second guess.
Did not drink during game, definitely drinking now. Not sad drinking, just calm down drinking.
My kids are with me, and it’s my middle daughter’s 11th birthday, so it’s just just a beer or two for me tonight. However, had it been a different weekend, a win would have left me white boy wasted.

Imho the most important kick we missed was not putting it through the end zone after taking the lead. Out of the end zone = no return to midfield. Why we don’t do this every kick is beyond me Rubinho can kick it out no sweat.
Agree 100%, if they start from the 25 I’m not sure they had enough time to score. But their guy made a great play when he needed to, that was a big time return. What do you think about the safety blitz on the tying TD? They made us pay for that one...

All kickoffs - just kick 'em all as deep as possible.

FG try was the right call, he was kicking from 55-60 yds in warm ups.

He put every kickoff in the end zone. He's not going to be able to put everyone out of the end zone. We had the chance tackle the returner at the 10. Rubino did his job.

55-60 in warm ups is much different then a game winner vs #10 in front of 107K...can't expect the kid to make that. My gut while watching was telling me OT would not be good for us, so had to take a shot and win it in regulation. That best shot was to keep the ball and try and pick up an additional 10-15 yards to give the guy a reasonable shot at making it. I believe we still had 2 TO's left, so clock was manageable.

Hind sight is always 20/20.

You have a kicker that has the capability to make it. Fourth and three or four is not a given. If we hadn’t made the first down, there would be people on here upset we didn’t give Staton the opportunity. I’m okay with it.

3 of last 4 P5 games, two lost in OT and 1 missed a FG, just hard to swallow, guys deserved at least 1 of them....oh well, on to Charlotte. Looking forward to a good year. That team from little old Boone is one of the most respected G5 programs in the country and that should make all of APP nation proud.

I am ok with the fg try. He had the leg just not the aim. 4 yards isn’t a gimmy and they were going to tee off and bring the house. While it hurts, we played well and mad Zac has ice in his veins.

I liked the call. The kid clearly had the leg and I like that Satterfield trusted him enough to go for it. Says a lot about Satt’s confidence in our kicker and hopefully helps build his confidence even more for future kicks. No shame in going for the win.

Would Rubino have been a better option for a 56 yarder? Just wondering? Doesn't he have the stronger leg? A 60 yarder in Boone in practice by Staton is far from a game attempt in State College.

I was thinking Jalen off right tackle on third down. In any event on fourth and more than one or two , you try the field goal.
