That's how much anyone is paying attention and giving us credit. A load of manure.

I'm okay with this. I'm not sure how much any team can move up after a loss. If we win out we could find ourselves in the top 25.

It's all about winning, the rest of the nation doesn't care about almost winning. It's about winning and moving on. Hence why Penn st is still at 10 and did not drop. Have to find ways to start winning these games.

Weren't we 39 before? I'd say moving up 4 after a loss is great.

Bingo. If we want to be judged against the big boys we can't expect to be graded on a curve.

Kind of tough to win these games playing their refs too. Just says how much money was on the line with PSU losing, with them supposedly in the playoff picture.

You saw the curve Saturday. The playing field is slanted against a non P-5. App with 12 penalties for 110 yards and PSU with 2 penalties for 10 yards. Yea right?

FWIW, last year Penn State was one of the least penalized teams in the country and we were one of the most penalized (top 30).

We were satisfied with the performance, but it's all about the W. We still have a lot of work to do to get those penalties down and learn how to finish a great performance and win. That's when we can compete with the big boys.

After a loss we actually moved up slightly. Also Penn State didn't drop but one spot which is a small but recognizable sign of respect. App can get to the top 25 if they can run off eight or nine straight, a tough bot doable task.

I'll buy that we got the short end of the stick regarding penalties. Not ready to make the leap to attributing it to conspiracy. Regardless, it wouldn't be the first game where the refs created an advantage for one team. I'm not happy about it but I don't expect people to treat it like we won when we didn't.

Then why was Satt mentioning some of the calls as questionable?

In the 34-32 Michigan game, it is clear as Mtn water that Manningham pushed off against Woseah. Our coaches were pointing to it from the sideline. They were both pushing off.....Should have been not called or called back as PI on both.

I didn't say the calls weren't questionable. I was just pointing out the recent history of the two teams. I do believe that our staff thinks the refs were misinterpreting the chop block calls.

I've been saying all along that our next step, if we want to be recognized and respected, is to start winning these Power 5 games. Almost beating Tennessee, Wake and Penn State does not count and will not get you noticed...

I went back and watched the game again yesterday. They only called the chop block on us one time near the beginning of the game. The other 2 were for blocks below the waist. Both occasions are lineman went low on someone in the linebacker area of the field. I don't know that they deserved the calls, but they didn't call chop block like I thought.

Coaches KNOW that we are a talented and well coached. That is why PennState only dropped one spot and that may well have had nothing to do with our overtime game.

A fifth year FBS team took the top ten team to overtime but lost and moved UP four spots in the poll. Coaches poll shows respect.

Go! Fight! Win Apps!

In years past, those blocks were legal. This past offseason, the NCAA limited cut blocking to just 5 yards from the LOS.

"Also, Appalachian State is damn good. The Mountaineers have finished 40th or better in S&P+ for three straight years, going 30-9 in that span. Quarterback Taylor Lamb is gone, but Thomas was Lamb’s backup last season and looked solid, and all-Sun Belt running back Jalin Moore enjoyed 124 combined rushing and receiving yards." - Bill C
