Emotions.
Satt says it's been great. Already recruiting. Been down in Georgia at the state championships. Ready to move forward with the program.
Interview process.
Left for three years in hopes to gain knowledge. Came back knowing he wasn't guaranteed anything. Put the best foot forward and come up with a plan. Went in to the interview wide open.
Pressures following Moore and coaching alma mater.
Coaching at alma mater is an awesome feeling. Loves everything about it. Following in the footsteps. Doesn't think about it. Has to think about moving forward and making the program better. Has always wanted to be involved in coaching.

How much of a leg up in transition period, recruiting.
Huge advantage being already here. Staff here and in place. Players know..recruits.. Focus on recruiting to get the best athletes at Appalachian.
Family is extremely excited to be in Boone at App.
Players have been positive. Huge. Had to earn respect of the players. To have their support and confidence means so much. After Christmas they're going to be asked to do a lot of tough things.
Cobb wanted a coach to continue with the spread offense. Continue to involve. Tweak what they're doing a little. Base will remain same - no huddle, up tempo. Out of the box thinking. Offense, defense and special teams important. Attack.
Has talked to Coach Moore. Moving on to next chapter of life - wishes him success.

Yeah, I'm stoked for 2013.

Am I the only one that deflated like a big balloon when Scott said he wouldnt be surprised if the jump took 2 years?

If ASU filed the paperwork before June 1st, the jump would actually take two years to complete.

Since he said he wouldnt be surprised if it were tomorrow or 2 years from now, I'd say that meant when it was announced. Its impossible to jump tomorrow.

No...I fell a little also if he's talking about two years before we even start. But I think that is a second worse case situation (worse being not moving at all). I don't think Scott wants to get hopes up and this situation is so fluid and messed up that it could be tomorrow and it could take two years. Probably the best bet is to go long and then if it happens earlier then it looks better for us. Only guessing here but I think it's a good guess.
But he could also be talking about transition time. I didn't hear the interview so I can't be sure.

Either way, I feel good about the future. I hope the defense can at least become a takeaway defense sort of like 2007 so we can either contend for a National Championship or run through our schedule while in transition to FBS.

I agree T-Dog. I put a couple of posts on MI about our offense and I thought that SS would be having a smile on his face with all that we have coming back and with some of the recruits we appear to be getting. Hopefully we get back all the injuried D players (O players also) and, with the experience many got this year I think our D will be in pretty good shape, DB's especially. What the coaches do with them will be interesting to watch.

Did he say anything about needing help cleaning out the office of Stale Dale Jones? I am available this weekend? Hell, I'll rent the UHaul.

Is there another FCS program which has turned out more outstanding All-American caliber LBs over the last decade than APP? ---

That's kind of the point.
We've had NFL players/prospects, but the defense has been average and at times bad.

I think on the defensive side of the ball what comes to my mind just off the top as the two biggest defensive letdowns this year was obviously the game against the Citadel and the last game against Illinois State where Blaylock was picked on the whole game. For the Citadel game our defense just looked totally unprepared and I saw something that I hadn't seen before, a team using their speed and athletic ability to beat us around the sides, usually with our speed teams were never able to do this. On the other hand at times our defense has stepped up and played great games like Montana and Ga Southern and for three quarters against ECU. So for me its consistency and the ability to make adjustments as areas that need to be fixed.
