Time to move on......Boise State step aside.....we coming through baby......time to make some noise boys!.....we need to now concentrate on stripping the pulpit away from the likes of UCF, Houston, S.Florida, Memphis, Boise State.
KICK ASS!!!

When's the last year, roughly, that WCU was a relevant rival? I graduated in '04, and despite Western picking up one more win just after I left, the "rivalry" felt like a vestige even then. I think we pretty much all considered GaSo, Wofford and Furman more relevant as rivals.

The Battle for the ol' mountain jug has a special place in my heart. I even have a replica I made I take tailgating.
But we will not be "rivals" for a long time, maybe a match in the next 10 years or so, but not like it was. Looking for someone else to take that place like ECU, Wake, or Charlotte.

The only thing that video made me miss is the white block A on the helmets. Beating the hell out of Western was old before we even moved up.

I miss WCU as much as Brad Pitt misses his presumably less attractive high school sweet heart.

I wouldn't be terribly upset if it could somehow become a rotating trophy between those of us with similar regional roots involving "mountain jugs." App, VT, UT, ETSU, WCU, UT-C, WVU, and Marshall... maybe another d1 that I'm missing... Holder of the jug hosts and the challenger is drawn from a hat. What a school not selected does with the open date is anyone's guess... Also would be alright with the same arrangement minus the fcs programs or if it simply collected dust from now until the end of time.

Actually, just bury it in the foundation of the new north endzone building and be done with those jokers.

The WCU program has been a shadow of its former self since the mid/late eighties. Since Bob Waters' death (1988), they have never won more than 7 games. Since App left the SoCon and Mark Speir has coached WCU, they've done it three times. No other coach since Bob Waters has done it more than ONCE.

In the 80's the App rivalries with Furman and WCU were intense. They were both great programs back then.

Don't forget Marshall. Old timers still remember their large and energetic fan base at our home games.

Definitely, and I guess I'm one of those old-timers. Great thing is we've got them on the schedule in 2021 in Boone and their place later. They will show up for their team in large numbers...almost like a herd..

Thanks a lot. I was at the first App Marsha game, one of maybe two wins that year....
