It still is settling backwards from last week... Tied at 35 last week, back to 39 this week. However, as the season progresses, I can see us up there to the 25-29 range.

Meanwhile Florida State gets 17 points based entirely on being named Florida State.

Anyone who gave FSU points for barely getting past a SoCon team yesterday is sniffing glue or just a Seminole mark.

As for us, we beat one of the worst programs in the country, so I wasn't expecting our stock to rise much. If we run the table, I could see us getting into the Top 25 like Troy did a few years ago just out of attrition.

How many votes did they have last week? Voters don’t tend to penalize for wins. South Carolina and Florida lost to much better opponents than Sanford and are out of the Top 25.

The whole thing is biased, I mean, even with us back int the FCS days when were were getting votes, wasn't that essentially a sports writer for the WS Journal who liked us and gave his votes to us?

Maybe it's too early in the season, but a team who was the National Champion a few seasons ago barely able to beat a SoCon team should go down in standing imho.

Honestly, I doubt much thought is put into the polls. They simply roll with it from one week to the next. Win and you move up depending on what happened the week before. Lose and you move down. The only time that there is actual subjectivity is when they are looking at the obligatory G5 for the NY6. That is why, to me, tha it is better to play and lose competitively to a top P5 than to beat a bottom feeder in the Big 12 or SEC. The media exposure of our narrow miss will factor in when it comes time to narrow down the list of NY6 candidates.

FSU has played two games and has looked absolutely dreadful in both of them. Don't know how many votes they got last week, but they looked like a bad team vs. VT and reinforced that impression vs. Samford.

Coaches that are either currently voting for App or potential could:

Satt
Franklin - PSU
Anderson - Ark St.
Brown - Troy
Lunsford - GS
Withers - Texas St.
Clawson - Wake

I'd hope all of the SBC schools are throwing us one vote at this time.

FSU had 46 votes last week (Link below). We only had 9 votes last week...just beat Southern Miss this week and we will continue to progress. ;)

Which reinforces my comment that little effort is put into it on a weekly basis. FSU is hot garbage right now but they will get the P5 benefit of the doubt for now. Yes they lost votes this week but they were probably all votes for 25th spot.

App OT with PennState @PennState

PennState BLOWS OUT Pitt at Pitt.

We need to hype our team to the sportswriters like a Heisman trophy candidate. We should have received a little more notoriety from the PennState BLOWOUT of Pitt from the ESPN Talking heads. We all need to be sending emails constantly to the talking heads.

We also now need the Win/loss chains to work in our favor. Pitt needs to have a good season the rest of the way.

What I've seen, our game is considered a fluke because of how good Penn State did against Pitt. Not that we're that much better than Pitt.

Save your emailing time. Nobody cares about emails from random fans on the internet. Those guys get swamped with those. That's why schools have an SID. (Well, that and so someone will actually fill out the "coaches'" poll ballot so the actual coach doesn't have to.)

I am in no way looking for "trouble", but I'm not sure I understand the poll talk. For me, the question shouldn't be about the others receiving votes, but rather who in the top 25 can we legitimately make the claim we're better than.

This. We are two games in and lost one of them, albeit to a potentially great team. We also beat a real bad team. We all know the polls are biased to the big power names. I’ll start getting worked up when we’re 8-1 and still not recognized.

That's fair, and I don't disagree. But realistically, we aren't going to go straight from receiving no votes to actually being ranked; we just don't have any remaining opponents who will move the needle like that. So we have to be in others receiving votes and slowly move our way up; hence the interest.

I'm not mad about it (I wouldn't rank us now either). Just hopeful that we get there at some point.

East, I think we 100% agree. Look, I'm VERY impressed with our team two games in. I think we look good, real good, but "App good", "G5 good", but we are not one of the best 25 teams in the country. The point I was trying to make about the others receiving votes is that Arkansas St. got a vote. Heck they may be waaaaay better than we are, but who in the world thinks that after a win vs SE Missouri St. and a half hundo loss to Alabama thinks they are one of the 25 best teams in the country? I just think looking at the votes in polls is a waist of time.

An OT loss is better than a loss especially a blowout loss....Playing at Penn State. The home crowd on almost all counts is worth three points in football. (NFL/College spreads)

I agree it is early, but if Penn State continues to blow out people away or home. Our OT Loss should look better and better.

I don't believe we should have more votes now but IF we run the table.....The Penn State * should be in front of all the talking heads.

Same as the year with Tennessee. Tennessee didn't back it up enough.

GO PennState!!!!!!

Top 25/matters to recruits and I think worth our time as a fan base to put some PR behind it.
