I still say offering a 15 year contract to a guy like Satt is not a bad idea. And it’s time for DG to develop a hit list of other schools big donors, put together a team of alumni in those areas and give solicitation a shot. We used to call that elephant hunting.
Would that mean that if we gave him a fifteen year contract and had to fire him after five, we would owe him ten years salary?
By the term, “had to fire” means with cause. Then probably not. It would be written into the language of the contract.

Had to fire as in 2 or 3 seasons of big time losing records.

Every team I have played on or coached always had trick play(s), we worked on them at least every other day. It was fun for the players and we did run them in a game.

In those terms then you would have to pay the contract.

Neal brown actually beating P5 schools regularly may help his case over Satterfield. Not that plenty still wouldn’t want Satterfield, but if it was between the 2 for the UNC job, Brown has finished the upsets

Well, if you put it that way (for the CHeat job), I fully agree.

Wow! What a play. Only problem is, this might get some PR men creamed this season by defenders who saw this play. Let's hope not.

After watching the game I'm not sure that Troy winning the game is an upset. They were only 11 point underdogs and likely should've been less.

Absolutely, anyone not named Scott Satterfield sounds like the perfect hire for that dumpster fire in ChapHill.

When Scott leaves as long as it is one of the next 2 years we will be fine with our current leadership (DG) at the helm and a small recruiting class to fill.

Interesting jobs to keep an eye on: UNC and GT both likely to come open. Duke if Cutcliffe retired.

He didn't start working with a super agent without a reason and I honestly cannot blame him.

Speculation is fine BUT ANYONE that thinks they KNOW what Scott is or isn't going to do is just plain wrong. None of us do! I personally am not going to speculate one way or the other-- He's our coach. He will continue being our coach until he's not. :D

First, I'm glad to see so many fans now on the Satterfield train after the first few years where they were ready to torch his house and run him out of Boone proper. Second, Satterfield would be an absolute FOOL for entertaining an offer from UNC because UNC gives two sh&*ts about football and will always prioritize b-ball; just like Kansas. They know their roll and because they have tons of money, they will pay some big dollars for "lip service" effort towards making their football program somewhat relevant. Then after said relevancy has been accomplished, they will turn their gaze back over to basketball, womens soccer, field hockey, swimming or god knows what else and let their football program go back to the relegated state it has been for a majority of the time UNC has had an organized football program. So, ASU alums and fans, take the bull by the horns and raise the program to the next-next level and become THE football school for North Carolina. ECU, WAKE, and NC STATE be damned, they've not fought the fight of winning, and winning and fighting and scratching and building from the bottom up to where you guys are now like ASU has. They can go by the wayside as pretenders to football greatness and ASU CAN be the team to beat from NC if the right folks stay and be loyal and the right decisions are made. Where does ASU want to be in 10 years?? Top of Sunbelch conference for the 10th time, or top of a BCS conference?

Anyway, my point is, Satterfield should stay with his alma mater knowing he will make great money, retire well in the beautiful high country and come to the conclusion of "what else could you want in life?".

I think it’s easy to deduce Scott will entertain an offer in the future. Fact: He hired one of the best agents in college football. Why?im not speculating just stating the obvious. Speculation would be which school he will go to and how much will entice him to move. Using your logic I assume you will never speculate on a score but wait for a result? Please don’t admonish those of us that want to have a discussion about the future of a very good college coach.

The character of a walk on is challenge. A chip on the shoulder saying “I wasn’t good enough for a scholarship so I’ll show you” I just don’t see Scott passing up an opportunity to show doubters that some school with program potential and a bag full of cash can be a winner like he has been.

Makes you wonder what Woody is thinking down in Atlanta. Woody's D is currently giving up over 36 ppg against FBS competition. I guess if SS took over Ramblin' Wreck, he would most likely keep Woody on as DC to help with the transition.

His defense takes time to understand, and then of course to recruit his player. PJ is hoping he gets to stick around long enough to give Woody a chance.

The Woody move caught several people off guard. PJ is a a lame duck coach and Woody's system takes time to implement. It took 20 games or so at App. Wish Nate the best though.
