Meet 11 new quarterbacks who could make a big impact in college football

The QB who is a 2.0 version of a four-year starter: Zac Thomas, Appalachian State. Thomas had lofty shoes to fill coming into the season. He was set to replace four-year starter Taylor Lamb, who set pretty high standards while he was the signal-caller for the Mountaineers. Lamb is the No. 2 career passer at App State and also set the all-time Sun Belt and App State record for passing touchdowns with 90. There were questions about the position coming into the season, but Thomas put those fears to bed when he nearly led App State to a Week 1 road win against Penn State. Thomas passed for more yards than Trace McSorely in that game and impressed quite a few people, including his head coach. Thomas followed up that performance by going a perfect 14-14 for 295 yards and three touchdowns at Charlotte. Through two weeks, Thomas is completing 75 percent of his passes and has five touchdown passes to just one interception. Additionally, I feel that Thomas runs better and also has a stronger arm than Lamb. With Thomas' confidence growing by the game, he could lead the Mountaineers to double-digit victories and their third straight Sun Belt championship.
