Since we are all throwing out "easier said than done" scenarios. Here is what we should do.
Step 1. Tell ESPN to stick their early week, no attendance game in their back pocket.
Step 2. Tell Arky St. that we are playing on a weekend and to stand by the phone.
Step 3. Call So Miss and tell them to spit or get off the pot. Come to Boone on Oct. 6th so we can kick your a$$.
Step 4. If So Miss agrees, then call Arky St and tell them we are coming on the 13th and leave the light on. If So Miss does not agree, call Arky St and tell them that we will see them on the 6th.
Step 5. If So Miss will not oblige to the delayed a$$-kicking, and we move our Arky St game to the 6th. That allows us to go to step 6.
Step 6th. Call the boys down in Raleigh and tell them that we will see them on the 13th. (I know that we lose a home game, but it is a drivable away game and seeing the Mountaineers play is always a good thing.
WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! SEND IT!!!

Ditto. I am certain this will fly.

The Pack Pride site on 247sports.com has us as an option for NC State's cancellation with WVU (Link below). It is option #9 of #10, but highly unlikely I think. I do agree with them that we would love to come to Raleigh for some payback. My gripe = The dang author referred to us as the "Appies". He probably didn't mean anything by that, but I hate us being called that!

Issue would be they would want it on sun belt championship game day.

Yes, I agree. The author says that about rescheduling in the article, "It's theoretically possible at the end of the season, too, but this App State team looks destined for a third straight Sun Belt Championship Game -- which would be played on Dec. 1." I appreciate that earned respect for App State football, although we all know it will be the first ever SBC championship game, but still don't like him calling us "Appies".
I hate to have a game day taken away this year, especially a home game, but I don't see any doable options given our remaining schedule. Someone commented earlier on here that the status of the So Miss game was listed as "postponed", but it is showing as "cancelled" now on the schedule on appstatesports.com

Do not reschedule for this year unless we don’t make the SBC title game, and then I’d say delay until a future season, we need solid G5 games on future schedules.

Here’s a question...which would you choose?
1) playing on the road in a Sun Belt championship game.
2) playing NC State in Raleigh

Yes. Yes. YES! DG make it happen!

The two hurdles for this one is the aforementioned stAte/ESPN deal and that the 13th is the first weekend of the State Fair... I know Doeren is adamantly saying he wants a 12th game. Even if it means playing that weekend.

If the state fair is a problem NCSU can come to Boone to get their 12th game.

Carolina/State played almost exclusively on State Fair weekend. Should not be a problem.
