I like that guy. I used to love how he got our team fired up. Don't change Shawn!

Chemist, you may not know this, but Shawn is a Mountaineer. And I for one, love everything about him as a coach, except the team he coaches. I hope he heals quickly.

1. He's a former Mountaineer. And similar to the Marines, once a Mountaineer always a Mountaineer. He's given his all for Appalachian State in a uniform and with a headset.

2. I don't think it makes him a dumbass, and if you knew/remember my first point you'd understand how into it he gets so anything can happen.

Shawn is the man. Few can match his intensity. He could be a strong candidate for our next HC.

It's not like he was acting ridiculous. If you watch the video, he's just a passionate, exuberant coach. Things happen. Never get old.

And I get that we're supposed to dislike our competition, blah blah blah, but Shawn was an active member of our team, either as a player or a coach, for 17 years. There were many who would have picked him over Satt back in 2012/13, and while I'm glad Satt's our coach, I would have been happy either way. Who knows? Maybe we'll see him in black and gold again before it's all over.

Chemist, we only dislike Shawn when we are playing Ga State.

Do yourself a favor and watch the Michigan upset and the post game celebrations with Coach Elliot pumping up the players...........it's priceless.

And as Grad 09 said, "1. He's a former Mountaineer. And similar to the Marines, once a Mountaineer always a Mountaineer. He's given his all for Appalachian State in a uniform and with a headset.

Get well Shawn!!!

So why did he leave? If it was mostly money, his loyalty is in question. If it was for the higher position, a little better reason. Perhaps we can get him back sometime in the future.

Shawn yelling "Whose House?" in a voice that was long since raspy from all the yelling before during and after the game is such a fun sight to see. The Under the Lights show seems to have a good bit of the post game locker celebration.

STOP!!! When Steve Spurrier comes calling you answer and go. While there he showed his quality and put himself in a position to serve as interim head coach at the University of South Carolina...a team that had recently had multiple 10 win seasons.

Never begrudge someone taking an opportunity they think will better their lives.

He also grew up in Camden, SC, (maybe 45 minutes front Columbia) as a USC fan, so a job there had always been a dream, as I understand it.

He did what was best for him at the time. Why’d Satt go to Toledo and FIU? Why does anyone ever leave one job for another?

Shawn is one of the great Mountaineers. He was a great player, an even better coach and a great friend. Shawn will never be the enemy. Friendly competitor when we play him yes. Enemy? NEVER. We owe much of where we are today to this man.

Doesn't Elliott throw App under the bus when he recruits against us? Thought I read that on this board somewhere or maybe I heard it elsewhere.

I like him but do not want him as our head coach one day.

On a side note, I watched a replay of their game at State. They looked very bad. Looks like they took a step back from last year. Their new QB is not good.

Now that I think of it...What is it about Georgia State coaches and freak injuries? Their basketball coach a couple years ago, and this now.
