Yea DG doing what he can... putting best foot forward. However it won’t matter when the right P5 school comes calling then Scott will have his suitor. It’s a matter of time. We are fortunate to have him as long as we can.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Why not give him a 5-10 year extension? That way the buyout will be huge.

In this case who knows? Maybe they offered and all Scott and his agent would agree to was a total of 5 years?ComebackShack wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:45 pmWhy not give him a 5-10 year extension? That way the buyout will be huge.
Is the contract public record? I’d really like to read it.
Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Glad the extension is in place, but I feel like it is a recurring theme to have this every year. Hope he got paid!

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Obviously big time coaching contracts are WAY out of hand. I realize that big time programs bring in big time money. Unfortunately with App there is a limit since we don’t have a TV contract, home games only bring in so much and our bowl game opportunities are what they are. Hopefully Satt is being nicely compensated and he is happy with his current situation.

who knows, Mark Ricks was made a trustee today. Maybe he decided Satt needed a pay bump and wrote another check. Thank you for your contributions to our university, Mr. Ricks!

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
That could be risky for us. Suppose in year 5 or 6 of a 10 year contract, he has a few bad seasons. We would be stuck with him for the remainder of the 10 year contract and possibly have to pay him for the years after we release him as well as paying the new coach his salary and benefits..ComebackShack wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:45 pmWhy not give him a 5-10 year extension? Is Scott's salary and benefits locked in for the 5 years or can he get raises during that interim?

Assuming we stay in the Belt the wheels would absolutely have to fall off for our program to tank. We seem to remain a desirable school for recruits and Charlotte has a long way to go to dent our baseNewApp wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 4:55 pmThat could be risky for us. Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Here is a link to the previous contract that he signed. I would expect new one to be very similar
Base salary of $425K each year, with monthly retention bonuses escalating along with annual fund payments as well. Buyout was only one year of current base salary ($425K) due within 30 days. Only restriction is he couldn't move within our conference.

It can happen to the best of programs. Look at Nebraska.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 5:04 pmAssuming we stay in the Belt the wheels would absolutely have to fall off for our program to tank. Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
We just need to keep doing what we've been doing. We're fortunate to have a HC who is coaching the very same team he played on a few years back. I'd like to think that loyalty to his Alma Mater goes a long way over a guy we just hired from somewhere else. And hopefully that means he won't leave his Alma Mater for just ANY P6 (I know he was on the short list of AAC schools the last few years too).
So hopefully he continues to build our team up so that in the event he does decide to leave, the program as a whole continues to be an attractive P5 school where candidates and potential recruits will want to come and continue the program's success.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Love it. At least it muddied the waters for potential suitors. Scott clearly won't be wooed by any worthless P5 who thinks their "P5" moniker will lure him away.
