Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
I don't ever post something regarding "information from a reliable source" unless I'm joking, however, this time I'm 100% serious and do feel the source is legit and close to people in the know. Regarding UNC and Fedora, they will not be looking to fire him at the end of the season. Regarding the circumstances he's had to deal with, some cause by previous staff, and the buyout amount, the only way they were going to fire him this season is if he lost to Western Carolina and that has passed.
That being said, I think we can feel safe that we will not have to face Satterfield next year, at least not at UNC. Hopefully, we get to hang on to him one more year. That he is still looking to preserve People's redshirt gives me hope that he plans to be here next year and possibly longer, but that is me wearing my black and gold tinted glasses.

I think Coach Satterfield may stay longer also. I hope his kids want to stay in Boone and finish up at Watauga High School. That would give him a few more years at App I hope.

Currently, Watauga High is in the hunt for a State Title. With most of the current team coming back next year (Satt's son included), look out!

Fedoras contract is the only reason he will likely get another year. A $22M buyout for a sport many there are indifferent towards is not worth it.

WHS Fridays and APP Saturdays. Going to be some serious football withdrawal going on in Watauga County in January.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:48 amCurrently, Watauga High is in the hunt for a State Title. With most of the current team coming back next year (Satt's son included), look out!

I'm loving it, Watauga - Friday night and App - Saturday. And, another dose of it again next season. And, I'm willing to bet that Satt loves it too!!MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:57 amWHS Fridays and APP Saturdays. If it is usual, they will be top 25 by the time we play next year somehow. SC as well.

If we play our cards right, we will be right there, or on the cusp, as well.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Heard the same thing from someone “in the know”. Said they have some projects currently in progress that would not allow for them to execute a buyout at this time. However, if the right booster comes along and “encourages” it to happen.....NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:16 amI don't ever post something regarding "information from a reliable source" unless I'm joking, however, this time I'm 100% serious and do feel the source is legit and close to people in the know. For a sport that does not move the needle much it is a lot like you said. Plus its uncertainty.

I dont know what exactly it means, but replacing Fedora with Satt would be a big culture change, according to Football Scoop.
And Satt has two sons playing for WHS

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Here is an interesting question. What about a P5 job would be attracitve to Satt? The obvious difference is money but would that interest him? Another would be to run a bigger program. That is motivation for some but not for all. Would a P5 job be a clearer path to a National Championship? I doubt it given the fact that there have been only a handful of teams invited since its inception. I believe that if they were to expand the current playoff system to 8 teams to include a G5, then the odds of a CFP invite would be better in his current role. As a conference champ, he would only have to compete with 5 CC for that spot.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
Considering the fact that we have games scheduled against UNC coming up my heart tells me that Satt would not want to have to play App- dumpster fire aside in Carrboro. I think we are just getting started up here on the mountain and we are fixing to have a major power.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
And I believe the high schools in Chapel Hill have gotten rid of football, so his family would have to stay up in Boone while his sons finished high school or transfer to a private school in the Triangle, and they typically don't get many looks by recruiters

My 2 cents - He stays until his sons graduate high school. Then once they make college choices he may go if the right job opens up.

What about his daughter? She is a Freshmen, so she will be a Senior the year after the last son graduates.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 21, 2018 8:21 amMy 2 cents - He stays until his sons graduate high school. Then once they make college choices he may go if the right job opens up.

Forgot about the daughter. My bad. He stays until all of his kids are out of high school.

Re: Satterfield's contract extended!!!
All of that is nice but if the “right” school comes knocking and pay him 2.5M and up and guarantee it for 4-5 yrs. make no mistake, he will be gone. He did not hire a big-time agent to stay home.
