The one thing that would make me question any UNC-CH rumor is that Satt specifically said he would want a program that is 100% behind its Football program. UNC-CH is not that program and never will be. They would like a winning football team but, Basketball is the end-all be-all at that school and they will never make a football decision that could potentially have a negative affect on the basketball program. Of course you throw $2-3 million at anyone in his position and things can change. That's generational money there, his grandchildren could be taken care of off one 5 yr contract. I'd love for him to stay but would understand if(when?) he leaves.

Right now all we can do is enjoy the ride and appreciate what he's done so far.
I don't think Satt will leave for UNC unless he's just about the money. I think UNC wants/needs a great P5 assistant coach to move up, and if they don't that's when they'll call Satt (aka his agent). They love basketball, but they are wanting to bring up their football.

At most I think Satt will be here through the 2020 season. He wouldn't have signed a new contract this year if he wanted to leave for next year, 2019. As others have said we just need to appreciate what we have and if Satt decides to leave and benefit his family for years to come, good for him.

Until then, go apps!

Don't think UNC has too much ego to hire App Coach. It has happened before. Mack Brown left us for them before going to Texas stint.

Mack Brown left App to become OC at Oklahoma then went to be head coach at Tulane before going to the Holes.

And they never mentioned he had been at App before he went to Tulane.

Satt is not going to UNC. He might get paid more money, but it'd be step down as far as quality of football program. I mean, they're reducing their stadium capacity and they still use archaic troths in the men's bathrooms!

Believe me and I said this earlier...Sexton is talking to a list of schools that Satt has said he would consider....
Sexton wants to get paid so he is telling every who will listen waht we already know and that Satt is an excellent coach AND recruiter

Sexton helped Satt get his longer contract with App too. Sexton may help us keep Satt longer if he can negotiate well with DG.

Yep, what better way to get the best deal possible with DG than to posture like this. If Satt makes everyone think he's happy and plans to become a legacy coach then administration wouldn't have to be quite so accommodating at contract time. Negotiating without leverage, or being willing to walk away, is normally an exercise in frustration.

Also, this guy going to get him to the right opportunity so he's not jumping to just anybody.

When the deal is right he's gone. Not one of us would turn down a couple of million dollar a year raise to move to another zip code that isn't in Watauga county. If you say differently, you aren't being truthful.

Depends on how much one loves Boone and ASU and how happy you and your family are there. Some value money more than others. Only reason I don't live in Boone or Blowing Rock now is that I can't afford it.

An old joke South Carolina Highway Patrolmen tell:

Trooper stops a lady who was driving erratically one night. He comes up to her car window and says, "Lady, have you been drinking.?' She slurs out , "No, I haven't!" Patrolman says, "Then what's that between your legs, a Schlitz (slits)?" Lady says, No, a Busch (bush)!"

A few years ago I spoke at the University of Georgia to perspective broadcast talent. There was a kid who wanted to get into sports broadcasting who did an all student ran Georgia sports broadcast. He had props, he had jokes, he was wacky. Every other student in the class laughed when he played his demo and every other panelist said how great his energy was. I said, "I'll bet you go to school here". He puffed his chest out and said "you bet". I replied "if you ever want to make it out of the state of Georgia as a sports broadcaster you're gonna have to learn to shut that down". He looked at me like I'd just burst his bubble but I was trying to help him.

National level sports broadcasters DO NOT wear their alma maters on their sleeve nor do they behave as cheerleaders for schools where they worked in the past.

And to specifically touch on your point I have seen Mac Brown mention App State before on College Football Live.

Satterfield’s kid Bryce is a stud running back at Watauga High and he’s a junior. So maybe he wouldn’t want to move before Bryce graduates.......and maybe he’d like to coach his son at App. Who knows?
